Welcome back to what is likely the last post (although there might be one more) for this generation of the EPIC challenge. It has been a wild ride with these guys, and last update Lara grew into a teenager having completed 2 childhood aspirations. So let’s check in on what we have left to accomplish before Lara grows up into a YA.
Generation 3: Let There Be Light
Gen 3 Mini Challenge
- Discover all relics and assemble all totems (archaeologist). +3 points
Generation 2: Sound of Music
- Starting with the sims of generation 2, if the heir or spouse masters the painting skill, walls and floors may be any material. If this generation doesn’t complete this, it will be up to future generations to gain the necessary skill.
- Starting with the sims of generation 2, if the heir or spouse masters the handiness skill, thermostats are unlocked. If this generation doesn’t complete this, it will be up to future generations to gain the necessary skill.
These haven’t actually changed, but we are getting very close to them. We are also getting very close to completing a couple of collections. So let’s see how we do.
Since Lara, I have decided will be going into athletics she begins the routine of jogging each morning. She is likely going to be the sim that maxes out fitness.
Frances was out haunting and decided to do some laundry while there. I have them blocked off from the bathroom in the hopes they will leave SOME of the plumping alone, but it really hasn’t worked.
After her job Lara sits down to do her homework. She got an A in elementary and we are going to try and get her an A in high school.
We decided to try out some bee keeping, especially now that the garden is consolidating some, but that we keep adding a few plants here and there. Frances heads out to check on the bees and tend to the garden.
Lindsey is getting very close to making handiness, and has upgraded nearly everything. She needs kitchen parts for most everything else.
It must have been a Monday as Lara has a project to work on. She dutifully sits down to work on it and get it done. Once she gets an A we are taking the family back to the jungle to find relics.
Having finished most of the upgrades Lindsey starts to work at the woodworking bench to gain additional handiness. I discover all the fun things she can actually make.
Family meal time, with Ferd still in his bee keeping outfit. Lara’s face looks to me like she is getting ready to ask him either way he is still in it, or why he’s trying to eat in it at the very least.
Then it’s dancing time for the girls. Lara being a dancing machine means she really enjoys dancing, and her mother has always enjoyed it as well.
Ferd, meanwhile, gets back to painting. We are also very close to maxing out his painting skill, so I would love to get that done as well.
The mornings begin to get a little routine. Lara takes a jog, Ferd heads out to bond with the bees and then paints. It’s pretty standard now.
We are still needing lots of fish for that collection and no one has managed to max fishing yet. Since Lara has been so quick to pick up skills, I figured I might have her try and get started on that. Cleo asked to come over also, so she joins in for a spot of finishing. Somehow these two are still “acquaintances” which is surprising with as much time as they have spent together.
These three probably sit down more as a family to eat together then nearly any of my other families combined. It’s really quite sweet, and it’s almost the start of the holidays, so the jungle will probably wait.
Belle comes out and decides to play around with the lump of clay. I have never just had my sims play with it, but occasionally they will just pick it up on their own. Belle makes a teapot.
Working hard the next day we get the notice that it has happened. Lindsey has managed to max the handiness skill. That means we can mark something off our list!
Starting with the sims of generation 2, if the heir or spouse masters the handiness skill, thermostats are unlocked. If this generation doesn’t complete this, it will be up to future generations to gain the necessary skill.
It took us until Gen 3 to get it done, but we buy a thermostat, and we’ve been having pretty hot weather in the summer around here lately. With Lindsey mastering it, it’s time for Lara to take over the repairs and get some skills herself.
Frances, who you may remember, was never the best at painting decides to try his hand at it again in the afterlife. It didn’t get a whole lot better.
It’s HarvestFest again and the gnome are all over the place this time, including blocking Lindsey’s ability to finish the grand breakfast she had started. I was able to move them eventually, but we are getting quite the collection of them. I have accidentally bought a couple without meaning to thinking I was in my family inventory pulling them out, but oh well.
Lindsey decides it’s time to head back to the jungle. We’ve got 5 days until Winterfest, and she can potentially find a lot of relics and/or artifacts in those days. That is the last task she has for her generation.
Heading into the jungle after stopping for supplies, she wants again gets herself a blessing of the ancients and becomes a skeleton, although not nearly as pretty of one.
She then also find an egg, which holds an alien…..which is this.
I have to admit, I laughed that I found a pink whale in the jungle, even if it is an alien. Luckily, the jungle excursion was a success, and Lindsey found many of the relics. She needed 1 bird head, a death and a chaos bottom though.
It’s almost Winterfest and Ferdinando has provided us with a gift of a promotion to the branching level.
Lara is very close to her A, and Lindsey does need to go back to the jungle again, so Ferd helps Lara with her homework, and she is close to completing her scouting badge.
Happy Winterfest from the Tripp family. It was a nice holiday, lots of decorations, Father Winter hanging out with Lara, and traditional singing around the tree.
The little live pink whale opens it’s eyes when we get it out of Lindsey’s inventory, and I guess it’s kind of cute.
Ferd is still working on finishing up his aspiration and get to the top of his painting career, so he continues to paint, and Lara is able to complete her scouting badges.
The day after Winterfest Lara comes home with the needed A and is a few days away from growing up. So the family heads out to try and find the final relics needed.
We managed to get the final pieces we needed and when she get home, Lindsey works on putting together the final totems.
We have a completed collection now. Very exciting that we completed this mini challenge before Lara grew up.
Discover all relics and assemble all totems (archaeologist). +3 points
Ferdinando finally reaches the final goal we had during this generation. Now he just needs to complete the masterpieces needed to complete the aspiration.
Starting with the sims of generation 2, if the heir or spouse masters the painting skill, walls and floors may be any material. If this generation doesn’t complete this, it will be up to future generations to gain the necessary skill.
This means we can paint our walls and carpet our floors if we want to. The house has been wood and stone for so long, it feels weird to be able to do something different with it.
It’s the Romance Festival, and Lara grows up tomorrow, but is up and not tired, so I decide to go ahead and send her down there. She sits down and a teen boy sits next to her, and they become romantic interests before we even send her home.
Back home after a bit of sleep it’s time for Lara’s birthday. It’s here where we will pass the torch from the most successful generation to date in this family, onto Lara.
Happy Birthday Lara! We will see you on the flip side where we start Gen 4.
