Generation 2: Sound of Music

  • Starting with the sims of generation 2, if the heir or spouse masters the painting skill, walls and floors may be any material. If this generation doesn’t complete this, it will be up to future generations to gain the necessary skill.
  • Starting with the sims of generation 2, if the heir or spouse masters the handiness skill, thermostats are unlocked. If this generation doesn’t complete this, it will be up to future generations to gain the necessary skill.
  • Once heir reaches the top of the music or painting careers, radios are able to be purchased and used.

Last update we sadly said good bye to Johnny Tripp (Vest) and the whole family was very sad. Kiana threw herself into helping her granddaughter get as skilled as she could. Belle and Francis threw themselves into their work.

As we check in with the family we see Kiana is still working with Lindsey as much as she can. First we see her sharing some stories with Lindsey. Kiana is still the best story teller.

Story time moves upstairs to Lindsey’s bedroom where Kiana tucks her in and finishes up the stories she was telling. Lindsey is such a good little girl, although she tends to wake up angry from being hungry….somehow she seems to always wake up super hungry.

To counter the fact that food is usually put in the fridge now where Lindsey can’t get to it on her own we make sure she has fruits and veggies in her inventory so she can have a quick snack first thing in the morning.

Kiana continues to head out first thing in the morning to tend to her garden. That is where we are zoomed to while she was checking on the trees near Johnny.

Kiana has done all she can to prepare her family for the future. With her beautiful, large garden and the house she helped make possible in the background Kiana lay down near Johnny’s grave. Everyone else was asleep.

Johnny’s grave is just off screen to the left, and as grim takes Kiana to join him in the afterlife Belle rushes out and cries, followed quickly by Lindsey. She loved her grandma and is very sad to have lost both grandparents already.

This, sadly, started a complicated mixture of trying to cheer up Belle and Lindsey at different times, as well as having to coordinate time off so that someone was home with Lindsey. Every time a parent left she got super sad at being “abandoned.” It was hearbreaking. So Belle took the first day with Lindsey and sat the table letting her talk about her toys.

While Belle was out working on keeping the garden fertilized (we are shrinking it a fair amount now) I see a shape move by her. I look around and find Johnny’s ghost, angry, kicking over the trashcan. He appears to be angry about his shoes being wet.

He sits next to his son in law, who asks him about his mood, and that’s when Johnny expresses his shoes being wet. So Francis tries to cheer him up.

Even though he’s still not happy Johnny does a very nice thing for his grieving family and does the laundry for them. It’s actually very helpful as no one has had the mood to be able to do it.

Lindsey is now two days away from aging up. She is only at a 2 in thinking, and a 4 in imagination and communication. So she spends the next morning watching her dad and mom, a lot. She follows them around the house and out into the garden.

Later she watches her mom play the piano for a while, while Belle worked on her mood in the process.

Lindsey then sits down for some food with her dad where she starts asking why. After food additional watching is done, as well as more asking of why and while I watch the bar inch up she amazingly is able to get up to thinking 5. Watching is certainly a quick way to level up that skill, which I have learned by reading Teresa’s blogs. In between all this watching she also played with her dolls and finished up imagination as well.

Communication is the last skill left and from reading the blogs I remember that talking with Blarffy is the fastest way to skill this up. Since poor little Lindsey is still feeling sad and hurt about Johnny and Kiana she talks with the bear and hugs the bear and right away she’s reached level 5. That means my second ever toddler is going to be Top Notch!

The next day is Lindsey’s birthday. Francis starts out by making a strawberry cake, which seems to be a favorite of everyone in this house. Belle then grabs Lindsey and taker her to the cake. Her eyes get so wide, it’s so cute!

Now for the moment of truth. What will Lindsey look like as a child. Surrounded by the “fire” of growing up Lindsey grows up into a child with the top notch toddler trait and a 2 in all of her skills right off the bat.

She is very cute, but we do take her and get a bit of a makeover on her clothes. The hair we leave in a braid down her back. This is pre-makeover of course, and she is still adorable.

With that, this update will end. Lindsey will get started on learning all her skills and doing her homework, which will make her dad happy so he can help her. Belle is up to level 6 in her career and should be able to finish it up easily enough. She loves to play her instruments.

We are going to jump in right where we left off after last post. Francis instantly starts teaching Lindsey to walk right after she grows up. This helps boost her movement up right away.

He then brings her downstairs to get her some food and some for himself as well. After a quick bite to eat Lindsey starts playing on the slide. It’s not as fun as she would like as the slide still feels scary to poor little Lindsey who becomes sad because of it.

After playing around on the slide for a while she moves onto her dollhouse, or rather her mother’s old dollhouse. There she plays with the dolls and works on her imagination.

After playing for quite a while Lindsey is hungry and her birthday cake is available to eat. This of course puts her into a sugar rush, and she loves sugar and wants it all the time now.

Everyone was getting tired and wanted to go to bed except for Lindsey. She gets up after eating cake and wanders out to the far corner of the lot to make a mess. We decide to let her for now.

Her mom finally wrangles her and puts her to bed with a story. Belle remembers how much she loved her mom telling her stories at bedtime when she was a little girl.

While boy guys are a work later in the week the girls have a girls lunch at home once all the chores in the garden are done for the day.

Francis is always willing to read to his little girl, especially since he needs to read books to her for 2 hours to reach his milestone. He finishes that milestone this day, as well as the 10 social interactions he needed. The new goals all revolve around homework, and Lindsey in high school, so they will have to wait.

Then, the thing I was dreading happening comes to pass. We see Johnny salute into the sky and law down in his bedroom. Kiana runs in and becomes incredible sad.

The grim reaper shows up, and not knowing exactly what the Wail about Loss would do Kiana performs this action, and miraculously Johnny is back with us. I know he only has a few more days with us, but he makes the most of them. Spending time with Lindsey, Belle, and Kiana. Then he heads off to work a couple of days later and when he returns it’s his time. For real this time.

So long Johnny. He made it to level 8 in the military career and almost reached the final milestone in the collectors aspiration. We didn’t change it until he was almost all the way through adulthood so he did well with the time he had left. Everyone is very sad about losing Johnny. Lindsey goes into a tale spin, as does her mother. Both waking up sad and angry almost daily.

Kiana throws herself into spending more time with her granddaughter. Talking with her, and teaching her to say please and thank you. She teaches her to talk to help her communication skills, hugs her lovingly often and tries to help the little girl cope with such a loss.

The family continues to cope and head to work regularly. Belle has reached the ability to start down the musician track and had to buy a piano to be able to practice. It is put downstairs by the flower bench, and Belle is learning it quickly. Johnny is up to level 4 in culinary I believe now, but little Lindsey is struggling with her skills. She has maxed the potty and movement, but everything else is pretty far behind where it should be.

I know this update is a little shorter, but it feels like a good place to stop. Johnny never managed to max any skills but he was up to level 7 in multiple skills, and he loved his family. He is buried in the garden among the trees.

The family wakes the day after Winter Fest to remember that all the chores and jobs and requirements are all back for the day and head off to do the things they need to do. Belle and Kiana work the garden together.

Kiana works on getting the second toilet upgraded. They decided to put in a second one as the family is getting big enough it’s hard to keep it all going with just one set. Both are outdoors, and only “hidden” by the wooden dividers.

Belle is working her way up the musician career fairly quickly, I believe she is level 4 this point. She still loves her violin that gave her so much comfort in her younger years, and has helped her to learn emotional control. She still plays it often, typically with emotion.

She looks lovely while playing and truly seems to get lost in the music. I can relate to her, finding myself lost in music whenever I get the chance to play or sing. The baby bump is becoming more apparent and she feels like she has a bit more of a glow.

We decide to give Francis a shot at painting. We would love to get the chance to unlock walls and floors that were not just wood and stone, but he also doesn’t gain any fun. Is painting no longer fun in sims? Still, he is materialistic so new paintings adorning the walls will be nice.

Belle: Ooo my back. I’m ready for this baby to be here.

Yes, I’m sure you are. You are getting pretty far into the pregnancy at this point.

Belle: I feel like a blimp.

I know, but just hang in there, you only get the one pregnancy. There are woman out there who end up having 11 pregnancies, and like 13 kids.

Belle: Ugh, no thanks, the 1 will be just fine.

Well don’t jinx yourself, you could carry twins or triplets.

Belle: Don’t even put that thought out into the universe.

Early early in the morning on New Years Eve Francis wakes up and starts freaking out as soon as he gets up.

Francis: Oh no, oh my, she sounded in pain!

Belle: Honey, what wrong, why are you freaking ouuuuuuhhh!!

Francis: She’s dying!!!

No she’s in labor. She is going to have your baby!

Belle calmly walks downstairs and grabs some breakfast. Her husband follows her the whole time.

Belle: Honey, calm down, I’m fine, but starving. I need food. The baby isn’t coming yet.

Francis: I’m staying by your side, I don’t care.

Labor resumes and in a very short period of time for me, we get the announcement the baby is on the way. Belle delivers a new little girl. The matriarchy can continue.

Kiana: I told you it would.

Yes yes, I know you did. How do you know though?

Kiana: I just know.

Too bad there isn’t a way to make you a fortune teller.

Meet Lindsey, named after Lindsey Stirling, the violinist. I figured Belle was named for the flowers in the garden and that her mother arranged, and this generation is about music, so we’d pull a name from that. Since Belle loves violin it makes sense to pick a violinist.

Francis is instantly smitten with his new little daughter. It appears she will have blonde hair like her mom and grandfather, but you just can’t be too sure until she’s a toddler.

Grandpa and Grandma are not far behind Francis and both take turns holding, cooing at, and rocking the new baby Lindsey.

Belle is miserable, pregnancy was not kind to her, and her hot-headed trait occasionally rears its head. To avoid waking the baby she carries the violin to the “hallway” and practices there. Her dad watches her lovingly. We are now back to being in compliance with the room requirement and we will pay closer attention to that from here on out.

Everyone enjoys the new years celebration. Each makes a resolution, Belle wishes to lose the baby weight, Johnny wants to reach an aspirational milestone, Francis and Kiana want skills.

All but Johnny reach their goals within a few days of the new year, and Francis is ready to work on his next aspiration items, socialize and read to a child. So when we get the notice that it’s Lindsey’s birthday Francis goes in to help her grow up.

Lindsey is one adorable toddler. Her hair fits her perfectly and I love the little outfit she grew up in. She rolled the Charmer trait. That feels like a good spot to end this update and next we will see Lindsey in her toddler years. Generation 3 is here and growing up so fast already.

When we were last with this family Francis had just married into the Tripp clan by marrying Belle in the kitchen of their house. He had gotten a job in culinary, and Belle was working in entertainment with the idea of taking the musician route as soon as she could.

When we enter this play session the family is doing the things they needed to do for the day. Kiana is in the garden, Johnny is…fishing I think, and Belle is cleaning up the piles of clothes that seem to build up quickly in the hampers.

Francis, being in culinary and wanting to get those skills up quickly, makes some food from the fresh veggies. Then Kiana comes over to give pointers to the budding chef. She might not have been a chef, but she was a good cook.

Kiana: So it’s not a bad salad, but next time you should remove the lettuce from the hard stem at the bottom.

Francis: Oh, yeah.

Kiana: It’s ok, you can still eat it, but it will make is easier to eat and won’t be as bitter.

Francis: Got it.

When the day ends the newlyweds head up to enjoy each others company in their newly “shurnk” room. The bed rooms upstairs were huge and since we added a new person we created the nursery by shrinking the two bedrooms to make a third room in the middle.

I just realized I probably broke the room rule. Oops. I wasn’t thinking bout the hall way up where the bedrooms are as being a room, so technically we’ve had 4 rooms since moving and now have 5. I will have to keep that in mind for the future.

The next morning Belle heads downstairs for the morning and we discover that the wedding night fun has had the desired effect. Francis is a fair bit older than Belle and we didn’t want him to grow up before they had their baby. After finding out the news Belle heads upstairs to tell Francis the news.

Belle: Honey, I have news, you’ve wanted a family right?

Francis: Yes, it’s my dream!

Belle: Well, you are likely getting that dream faster than expected

Francis: *looks worried* why?

Belle: I’m pregnant!

*giggling from both* Francis blows out a breath….not sure what his concern was, but he is very happy about the news. The first milestone he needs to hit is to become a parent.

It is officially Winter Fest and the family enjoys this holiday. First decorations are put up and this year the family splurged and bought an actual tree. The family works together to make it beautiful.

Kiana and Johnny are very happy to celebrate this holiday with their newly extended family. They are not likely to see another one. Then a new tradition of singing over the packages takes place before they dig into the presents.

Everyone got good presents this year, until Johnny snuck in a “joke” gift of coal, and Kiana unfortunately opened it. For the second year in a row she feels she got bad gifts, but she also got a good gift of candles that she liked.

With a budding chef in the house, a new, well stocked, fridge and stove in the kitchen Francis gets started on a grand meal. It’s the first time this family will be able to experience this tradition for any holiday.

When the meal is prepared the family sits down and shares the bounty together. I believe the meal turns out Excellent, likely due to the excellent produce in the fridge.

After dinner Belle has been working on losing weight since her teenage years. She usually jogs, but apparently when you are pregnant there is no jogging allowed. So she uses her dad’s weight bag instead. Then she spies Father Winter walking down the street. She chases him down and after an introduction each member of the family asks for and receives a gift.

As Winter Fest wraps up for the day Belle is still hungry, as her pregnancy will start making her more and more often, and we decide to have her eat some strawberries in her bag to try and ensure a girl.

Kiana: Worry not, she will have a daughter.

I know you were right last time when it was your child, but we still have no way to truly know until the baby is born.

Kiana: You worry too much, the lineage with continue.

If you say so. I wish there was a way to know for sure…

With Winter Fest over the family settles into bed for the night excited with the festivities and the news of a new little Tripp on the way. The biggest questions will be if Johnny and Kiana will last long enough to meet and help with their grand-baby.

Kiana: Granddaughter.

Yes, yes, let’s not start this again.

If you have been following along with this EPIC challenge, welcome to generation 2! If you are brand new to this challenge then welcome, but you may consider starting back in generation 1, which was also known as the Garden of Eden generation. It starts here if you are interested in that.

Generation 2: Sound of Music

  • Heir must choose between Music or Painting careers.
  • Spouse may work in any of the listed jobs the heir did not choose, or culinary or gardening.

    Gen 2 Mini Challenge:
  • Make at least 1,000 simoleans by busking. +3 points

Those are our rules for Belle Tripp and this new generation. While Belle grew up she gained a fair amount of traits and was decently successful (especially for my first TS4 baby). After growing up the first thing we start being on the look out for is a man for Belle.

He will need be go into painting, culinary, or gardening as Belle will be entering the music career herself. It took me a few moments to realize there wasn’t a “music” career specifically, buy rather entertainment, which funny enough was what Johnny was in when he first joined the family.

Heir must choose between Music or Painting careers.

Any young adult male we see Belle goes and talks to. This guy seems nice and he lives in a slightly different neighborhood in the same world, which means visiting him is a piece of cake.

We head to where this guy lives and he isn’t home, so instead we keep an eye out for anyone else who might be interesting. Then Belle meats this guy, Francis Gamez. They hit it off much better than Belle had with anyone else.

They spend some time cloud gazing with each other and then Belle asks him on an official date. He says yes and they head to the bar in town to share some drinks.

The date went well, but they haven’t built up quite enough to move further than this. We do see he appears to be a pizza delivery guy from his outfit though. He does not live in town, however, so we have to hope he visits again soon.

Back and home Kiana and Johnny are preparing to celebrate a special day. It will be their second ever birthday celebration with a cake. Kiana made the cake herself out of strawberries. I’m not completely sure I’m ready to watch Kiana get older, but it’s time.

Kiana: Ooof, my back is giving out.

All those years of fixing the toilet and gardening I guess are taking their toll aren’t they?

Kiana: Yeah, I’m getting older, but I have done my part for this family. They have a lovely garden, a large home and they are parepared to move into the future.

I’m not really ready to let you get old yet.

Kiana: Fiddlesticks! You can’t stop growing old, plus, my Johnny is already grey.

I know he is, but it hasn’t seemed like THAT long ago you were meeting.

Kiana: Are you serious? Honey, you watched us raise Belle from a little baby to this full grown woman!

Yes, yes, again, I know, but time works a little differently for me. It’s exciting and sad to see so many years just fly by for you.

Kiana: Well I’ve lived my happy life. I have a good husband, a beautiful daughter, even if she is a little handful, and I hope to see my grand baby. I’ve been happy here.

You can see the collection of fish growing on the wall behind the couple. They are getting quite a few fish, but it’s going to be up to future generations to probably completely finish the collection.

After a restful night for our now elderly couple, a new day dawns bright and full of promise. Belle doesn’t work until the evening so while we set the family about some daily tasks, we keep a look out for anyone in a pizza delivery shirt. Finally we spot Francis and have Belle run out to great him.

After some general flirting and talking Belle moves in for the moment of truth. A first kiss…

Everyone seems to be in a really good mood, so we decide to take our chances. I don’t want to risk this guy leaving the world and never coming back, or having a family.

He says yes, and Francis moves in. We learn he is even a better pick then we realized. Not only is he an art lover but his aspiration is in family and he wants to have a successful lineage. Now, due to his food working ways apparently we decide to have him join culinary. It will give us a way to use all the fruits and veggies that Kiana has been harvesting for years.

  • Spouse may work in any of the listed jobs the heir did not choose, or culinary or gardening.

Francis, very happy with the sudden turns in his life, heads to buy a little drink at the drink stand right across the street from the house. You might notice in the picture above there are decorations out for winter fest. It’s almost time.

Before winter fest arrives however, Kiana and Francis decide not to wait for some big party. It was good enough for Kiana and Johnny, it’s good enough for Belle. They get married right in the kitchen of the house.

I believe these two will be very fun to watch raise a child, hopefully a daughter, and work their way up the music and culinary careers. Belle has already gotten promoted up to C-Lister and practices her violin often.

She has also bought a practice one for home, and has started carrying her violin with her to allow her to perform in public. She is getting better and better and could even serenade her husband if she would like.

That feels like a good place to end this update. Next time it’s winter fest and we see if Belle and Francis get started on the next generation right away.

EPIC Tripp: Garden of Eden Wrap

Post 1.08 | Rules | Post 2.01

So our Generation 2 sims, Belle Tripp, is ready to take over the challenge. Kiana and Johnny were very successful during their generation, having brought a daughter into the world and raised her. Belle has a level 5 gardening and cooking, and a level 4 fishing. She only ended up with a B in high school because I wasn’t paying enough attention, but she also have a 5 in violin.

For fun I wanted to look back at the “goals” for this generation and take a sneak peak at what is coming up for Belle next generation.

So to start, let’s review the rules for this generation. Each of them was kept to the best of my ability, although I probably had a couple of times early on where we didn’t eat from the garden, but rather ate what was able to be grilled on the grill. However, we had a large garden, a wood and stone house, candles for lighting, outside “plumping”, a washing tub and clothes line. Kiana was in the gardening career and Johnny went into the Military.

Belle was born at home, and we did a log of jogging, but also purchased the punching bag for athletic skills. Belle reached the skill goals as we discussed earlier, and she was in the scouts, but not quite reaching the highest level. We have managed to unlock a fridge and the wood stove as a part of the mini-challenge for this generation.

Generation 1: Garden of Eden

  • Must plant a garden on the lot. Founder should choose a lot with easy access to a fishing hole.
  • House may only be wood or stone, with a dirt, stone, or wood floor. Wooden windows are allowed.
  • Electricity has not yet been invented, so NO lights (except candles/torches) or electronics.
  • Toilet must be placed outside, outhouse-style (except without the “house” part…so no walls enclosing it).
  • No showers allowed, and the tub must be placed outside (I.E. filled with pond water).
  • Since there is no running water, sprinklers may not be used.
  • Only the cheapest washing machine is allowed, and no dryer (just the clothes line). If you have the wash tub, that would be most appropriate to start.
  • Male founder or male spouse must enroll in the military, astronaut, or gardening career. A female founder or female spouse must enroll in the culinary or gardening career.
  • Women must have babies at home – NO hospital.
  • No vacation travel (planes haven’t been invented yet).
  • Can only gain athletic skill from the weight bench, jogging or swimming. Also, you can use the punching bag.
  • 2nd generation heir must get to level 5 skill of two of the following before he/she becomes a YA: gardening, fishing, cooking.
  • No phone use (they haven’t been invented yet). Must go to others’ houses to visit/meet someone. May travel within the towns (through loading screens but not on vacation). Phones can only be used to travel or take days off from work or school – they can’t be used to socialize.
  • Scouts are allowed for the children and teens.

    Gen 1 Mini Challenge:
  • NO fridge allowed until the founder or spouse reaches level 10 of his/her chosen career. Sims must eat from their own garden. Before their garden is providing food, they will have to find others’ gardens from which to eat. +3 points
    >>Wood-burning stove can be used once the fridge is unlocked

That felt like a very successful round as there were a lot of things that had to be watched in this generation. Occasionally when left to their own devices my sims would pull out their phones, but I tried to also redirect them if I saw it happening.

Taking a quick look at my mini-challenges for the entire challenge, it would appear I have not yet lost the ability to continue trying for any of these. I rolled the dice for Belle’s traits, still able to try for the matriarchy, collecting the gnomes, working on collections, so far no aspiration rewards have been used, and the family has repaired everything themselves, and Johnny (our only spouse so far) came from the neighborhood.

Selected Mini-Challenges

Roll the Dice: Give yourself 5 extra points if you randomize traits of all children for the whole challenge (minus the required traits following the crossroads). You can still do this mini-challenge if you choose to have a passed-down family trait, as long as you roll for all the rest of the traits besides the family trait.

“Every family has one…”: This mini challenge is in addition to the Roll the Dice challenge. Give yourself 1 point for each sim who rolls the Erratic trait.

“No well-behaved woman ever made history.”: Can you make your challenge into a Matriarchy? Must use strawberries to try and give birth to girls so each generation can have an heiress. The use of mods to tamper with gender does not count! 10 points

Gnome Mania: Give yourself one point for each gnome on the family lot by the end of the challenge. Additionally, give yourself one point for each TYPE of gnome the family has collected. These are the gnomes you will receive during HarvestFest so do not cancel the holiday!

Hoarder: An extra 10 points for each completed collection the family has ON the lot at the end of the challenge.

Doing it the Hard Way: Give yourself 10 points if you did not use any aspiration rewards during the challenge.

DIY: No handyman may be called at any time during the challenge; all broken appliances, plumbing, and electronics must be fixed by someone in the household. No maid or butler may be hired. Nannies are not allowed, but daycare is – you have to work, after all. 5 points

Love the One You’re With: 5 points if all spouses are found within the town and not created for the heir(ess) in CAS.

So with all of that still in place, let’s take a quick look at what we will be working towards with Belle during generation 2 of this challenge. The new generation is called the Sound of Music generation.

Generation 2: Sound of Music

  • Heir must choose between Music or Painting careers.
  • Spouse may work in any of the listed jobs the heir did not choose, or culinary or gardening.

    Gen 2 Mini Challenge:
  • Make at least 1,000 simoleans by busking. +3 points

Belle, due to her enjoyment of her violin all her younger years will choose to go into the music career instead of painting. Her spouse we will decide on when we find him. It will be interesting to see if we can get any of these new goals met while still keeping our mini-challenges alive. I hope you are as excited as I am to see what the next generation of this challenge brings us.

EPIC Tripp: Garden of Eden – 1.08

Post 1.07 | Rules | Wrap 1

When we last left the family Belle is six days from growing up and has a B in school. The family, deciding that their current log is getting too small and won’t allow for a house to allow the multiple generations to grow together soon move to a new lot in the neighborhood.

After some work in building the house and rearranging the furniture, and the garden we have a new house for the family. It’s now 2 stories with a lot of room for growth and plenty of room for all their study items to be in the house.

Belle continues to frequently need to take a job to clear her head, although sometimes she plays her violin with emotion to also help, but jogging is a great way for her to get into better shape, which she certainly is, and also getting her mood up.

While she is out Kiana and Johnny take the alone time to reconnect in the new house, and christen their new room. The couple is still very happy together.

Belle is still working on her skills, and making breakfast in the new house she reaches level 5 in culinary. That means she only needs to get gardening or fishing to level 5 in order to be ready to grow up.

Belle has gone into a new phase, called Distant, which means she doesn’t want to be around her family, or really anyway or it makes her tense. If her loner and hot-headed traits weren’t rough enough this is just going to make her time as school make her that much more unhappy.

Kiana and Johnny both try to ask Belle about it, but she ends up yelling the forbidden words frequently, which gives Kiana the chance to teach her more about manners.

Johnny hasn’t been fishing for a while, but we do still want to try and get more of the collection of fish that hangs on their wall, so Johnny goes out for some much needed fun.

Meanwhile, because I forgot that Belle was at a B-grade I didn’t push her to do her homework, so she spends time reading books instead. It gives her the alone time she wants.

Belle continues to do the cooking, and is slowly getting better at it. Due to the fact she fishes more than her mom we learn she can make fried fishes, which is a new meal for the family. It is very exciting.

When Belle is gone the couple flirts and goofs around together at the table. They are both close to turning into elders. I will be sad to see them go, and I love this couple. They are adorable together and it while I’m excited to see what the next generation brings, I will miss these two.

Due to the fact we moved to the new house we do get some visitors from around the neighborhood. Some of these sims are well known to many simmers, including the infamous Nina.

With Belle’s birthday coming up and Kiana and Johnny getting ready to turn to elders, we want a fridge! Kiana only need to finish her flower arranging. I learned that adding the “scent” flowers to the bouquets offer different benefits. Adding a Lily actually adds a scent that can make a sim inspired and being inspired makes training in flower arranging go MUCH faster than normal.

I also discovered that daisy’s give a joy and Sunshine moodlets, so I have Kiana make one to give to Belle. Belle tends to be a bit of a mess with her hot-tempered tendencies so the flowers can help keep her happy.

We also get a easel to start on getting some paintings done, and hopefully get the arts and crafts badge for Belle. Sadly, she really seems to dislike painting, gives her not fun or no joy. So she never actually reaches the badge, although we did get close.

We then notice that Belle has the school project in her backpack. We had forgotten she gets them on Monday and hadn’t completed it yet. Looks like this is a robotics task, and due to the distant trait she works on it by herself.

Belle finishes it and we can’t help but decide to activate it. Belle laughs and claps at what she was able to do all by herself. Tomorrow is harvest fest so she stayed up late to finish it.

The next day the gnome are waiting for us. Belle takes care of both of hers without any sort of trouble.

Johnny and Kiana also were able to appease their gnomes on the first try. This means the yard begins being filled with seed packets that just keep coming and coming and coming.

The family sits down to a meal together and share the harvest festival spirit, be thankful with each other and decorate for the holiday. The only piece of the festival the family does not participate in is the large feast. Kiana has maxed her flower arranging and we are simply waiting for tomorrow to hopefully get her promotion.

Belle decides to go do some fishing to see if she can possibly reach a higher level in fishing as well. She has managed to reach level 5 in gardening so both of the skills she needs to get higher have been reached.

2nd generation heir must get to level 5 skill of two of the following before he/she becomes a YA: gardening, fishing, cooking.

After fishing Belle sits down to do some additional homework and extra credit in the hopes of getting up to an A tomorrow. It’s Friday and the last day of high school for Belle.

We wake up the next morning and sure enough Kiana gets that final promotion. She is now at level 10 in the flower arranging which means, we very excitedly get to have a fridge and wood burning stove.

Right at the end of fall we have a couple of birthdays. The first one happens right after we buy the fridge and stove. Johnny grows up into a elder. He’s still very handsome.

Once again, Belle comes home from school upset. She starts by going for a jog, and then headed to her violin up in her room to spend some time playing with emotion. Her mom is downstairs baking a cake.

Right before Belle goes in to blow out her candles she runs out to meet this young adult male. He seems decently cute and someone Belle might want to get to know more, but they only have decent conversations.

Belle then heads back inside, and she blows out her candles to turn into a young adult woman. It is now time for Belle to get over the rains and work through the next generation of this family, in the Sound of Music generation.

Kiana managed to max out her cooking, gardening, and flower arranging as well as reaching the top of her career and her aspiration during her turn as the founder of his challenge. Johnny is still working his way up the ladder in his career and is currently working on his aspiration. Belle grew up and received traits for manners, emotional control, and responsible. She reached the level of Pegasus scout while in the scouts, but still only maintained a B in high school.

Generation 1: Garden of Eden

  • 2nd generation heir must get to level 5 skill of two of the following before he/she becomes a YA: gardening, fishing, cooking.

We are starting on the summer season now and Belle is all grown up into a teenager. We discover she’s a bit of a hot-head on top of being a loner, so finding her a boyfriend should be exciting. Not that she has time to focus on boys yet. We have to get her to level 5 in two of the following, gardening, fishing or cooking.

During the first time some people were hanging around the house and this lady came into Belle’s bedroom and started playing her violin, waking her up. Belle listened for a bit before asking her to leave.

Belle and her father have a wonderful relationship, in fact, she is best friends with both of her parents. That’s good because she has yet to make a friend outside of the family.

Johnny: ….and then, wait for it, this is the best part….then he went away. Isn’t that amazing!!!???

Belle: Um….wow, yeah dad, amazing.

Is he telling you about the dream he had again? The one with the vampire?

Belle: Yes, I have heard this story over and over again. It also seems kind of dubious.

I know, but I can vouch for the fact it happened. At least part of it. I have a feeling he’s embellished it a bit.

Belle: Like with the fact the vampire floating through the air and sparkled?

Oh god! Yes, exactly like that. That did not happen!!! The vampire didn’t sparkle.

Kiana and Johnny are still very much in love with each other and autonomously do romantic things with each other, like hug and kiss all the time. They also like to be goofy together, especially since Johnny is a goofball.

Since Belle needs to get a level 5 of a couple of skills she tries her hand at fishing with her dad. Not only does it give him more time to regale her with his stories, just like a dad, she gets some skilling time in.

When they were starting to get tired of fishing Johnny helped Belle with her homework, right there by the river. Why not, it was a beautiful evening, the water was calming and Belle brought it with her.

Kiana is getting closer and closer to level 8 in her flower arranging. This skill feels like it takes forever to get in these higher levels, but she is diligent and working on it using flowers straight from her garden.

She is getting pretty good now. In fact, she is getting good enough that she FINALLY got to level 8 and has been able to start making masterpieces.

Belle comes home angry almost every day from school and she tends to take a jog to collect her thoughts and calm herself down. That hot-headed trait is going to be a bit of a pain to work around, but while jogging Belle seemed to be on the lookout for a guy as well.

Back at home she was needing some fun, BADLY. She was desperate for it, so she turned to her trusty violin to give her some enjoyment. She’s getting good, already up to a level 4, so almost 1/2 way there and she hasn’t picked up the violin much lately, so that’s pretty good in my book, and what she plays at least sounds like music.

Getting tired of standing at her bench Kiana decides to sit and read about flower arranging, learning about other options for her to get better and better.

We tend to let Belle do most of the cooking, since she needs the cooking skills, although I’m not completely sure about the way she is trying to stir this food.

Um…Belle, are you sure that’s the best way to be stirring….whatever it is you are cooking?

Belle: It’s getting stuck on the bottom! I don’t want it to burn more than it is!

It’s ok! It seems like it’s fine.

Belle: Mom makes such good food and I don’t want to waste more than we already do by not having some sort of icebox. Why don’t we have one of those again?

Because, unfortunately, unless your mom or dad manage to get to the top of their careers it will never be available to you.

Belle: Man, you would like they wouldn’t want people wasting all this money on produce, but I guess since we grow it ourselves it’s not that bad.

On Monday, as it typically, Belle brought a project home from school. She was supposed to make a rocket and her dad jumped at the chance to help her. Kiana came and helped out after she was done with the garden as well.

After the project was completed Belle went off to take a bath, but her parents couldn’t resist setting it off. I found it fun I could watch it go up and come back down.

Kiana had to gift a flower arrangement for work and so she greeted a person walking down the street and had a nice conversation with them, handing them one of her beautiful bouquets while she was at it.

With Belle being able to entertain herself, and take care of most of her needs by herself anymore Kiana and Johnny take full advantage of that fact and spend some time being together again.

Belle dutifully does her homework, although we slacked on it a couple of days because she was in such a bad mood. She is still only at a B in high school, but we will get that raised up fast enough soon.

Kiana: The chores never seem to stop around here.

I know, and to think you even work from home all the time. Life will be easier when you finally get a fridge and you are setting your family up for successful through the future generations.

Kiana: I’m glad. I knew I wanted to start from scratch, so to speak. It was important to do things on my own.

The family sits down, sometimes for a full family dinner. It doesn’t happen as often as they might want it to, but everyone is getting to be on semi-different schedules with work and school.

Kiana is starting to get very proud of herself and her flower arranging abilities. She is one promotion away from being the top of her career. Sadly that means she needs to max her flower arranging and that is slow going. I’m probably going to spam her making flower arrangements these next few days, and let Belle take care of the garden.

Kiana decides to try and sell some of the extra flower and produce that she had an over abundance of and man’s a sales table, opening up the farmer’s market. She doesn’t get much, but it is better than nothing and she meets some people.

The hot-headed trait rears it’s ugly head again when Belle gets home from school this day, and she decides to take it out on poor Blaffy, Blarffy, I can’t remember what he’s called.

Once she has calmed down, she joins her mother out in the garden and keeps working on that skill. She is up to a level 4 now, so only one more level to go.

However, as soon as the gardening is done she goes off to destroy her childhood dollhouse. As soon as she’s done, and feels better I have her repair it again.

We are getting close to the end of the season, and in this case, the end of this update as well. The garden has grown some, and Kiana found some additional flowers she had not yet found which will make it easier to make higher level arrangements.

Johnny was up early as he had gone to bed super early the evening before. He was in need of fun in a bad way, so we had him go practice his chess moves before letting him have a bath and head back to bed.

Belle once again cooks breakfast in the morning, and she is very close to a level 4 cooking now. With this knowledge, though she is also at level 3 fishing, I think cooking and gardening will be her 2 skills.

Then Belle heads off to the garden where she actually WHISTLES while she works. Kiana has always whistled while working in the garden, but Belle had always seemed to somewhat dread when I would send her to the garden. It would appear she is learning to enjoy it.

Inside, the ladies both study. They both have a bit of a ways to go on their skills and anytime we can spend studying while also gaining a bit of fun while reading is well worth it.

We end the season with a family meal again. It’s going to be Sunday when we come back and hopefully Belle can spend enough time in the garden with her mom to reach her last needed garden skill. Kiana has a sliver left to get to max her gardening skill and then it will be all about flower arranging.

In 6 days Belle will grow up to a young adult, and hopefully I will have achieved the needed skills to move onto the next generation. Sadly, Belle has no other friends, even though she has spent time in school trying to make friends. She has met a couple of boys, however, so maybe one will be of interest to her. It will take a special person.

    >>Wood-burning stove can be used once the fridge is unlocked

We begin our second year with the Tripp family and during this season Belle will grow up into a teenager. Then she can start helping in the garden and work on getting either culinary or fishing skills.

In the meantime, however, we are still working on getting either Kiana or Johnny to the top of their career so we can finally get a fridge, and a wood-burning stove. The family has done well with using their garden with a grill to feed themselves, but it would be great to have as stove. To that end Kiana is still working on flower arranging and her goal today is to give a flower arrangement as a gift. She hands it to Mr. Goth who she greeted as he walked down the street.

Belle has managed to max her creativity skill, but she still needs to practice music and draw some things to reach her aspiration. However, in the interest of also getting some other skills higher she spends the afternoon playing chess with her dad.

Kiana proves she is a very good mom and tucks her daughter into bed. We have not had any issues with the monsters under the bed and Belle sleeps through the night.

Now that Belle is not a toddler anymore the garden work is handled much eaiser, and the fact it’s organized has made a huge difference for Kiana.

Kiana: Speak for yourself, the work still takes hours every day.

Yes, but you don’t have to take care of all the plants all the time, or wonder across the large garden nearly as much as it’s sorted by season.

Kiana: I suppose the is true, I am at a gardening level 9 now and can just focus on the plants that need work.

Kiana is also getting much better at cooking and has learned how to make campfire scrambles and breakfast scrambles. She even has the fruit to be able to make cobbler sometimes too.

Johnny has reached his decision level in the Military. Does he go for being an officer or for being some sort of spy? For Johnny it makes sense to keep heading for being an officer, no need to use any sort of strange electronics.

We have started seeing Belle yell a lot about doing just about anything. Here she yells during a conversation with her mom. Her mom asks about it and we discover that Belle has gone into a phase, Loud.

Bell: Hey mom this breakfast scramble is great! It’s nice to have something other than grilled fruit.

Johnny: I agree sweetheart, this is great!

Kiana beams with pride at her family enjoying her latest creations.

Belle spends the needed time to draw the rest of the drawings that she needed and we are now at only needing to play music for a few more house to reach her aspiration.

Belle comes home with a new school project, this time about chemistry, and as you might be able to tell from the picture above, Belle has joined the scouts. Kiana and Johnny sit down and help Belle with her project and it tuns out pretty good.

Belle enjoys setting off her project and watching it go off like it is supposed to.

We finally get a monster under the bed to wake Belle up late one morning, which was almost the time she would have gotten up anyway.

Johnny is also ready to get up so I have him start to head in to go spray the monster when I get this alert:

I had no idea this could happen, and was pleasantly surprised by how happy Belle was when it happened. She was doing so well that after school she ran out to start making a friend.

Kiana continues to work in her garden and on her flower arranging. The flower arranging skill takes FOREVER to level up at these higher levels, and she only has a single gardening skill left as well. Still, she continues to practice every day. I believe I counted here were only 3 flowers that she was not already raising herself. That makes her flower arrangements free to make and beautiful to sell.

I promise in the picture below Kiana is not scolding Belle, who is actually a really good kid. She is helping her her homework.

Scene’s like this are common in this family with Johnny needed charisma, Belle always working on her school work and Kiana left to her own devices often after finishing her gardening work.

Kiana is also the most frequent fixer of anything broken in the house.

Kiana: This stupid tub, I cannot figure out how this keeps getting broken. *grumble grumble*

I know Kiana, I have yet to figure out exactly how tubs and toilets filled with “river water” manage to break and spray water everywhere.

Kiana: At least I was able to upgrade the clothes line to try and and keep it from breaking all the time.

Belle has managed to get all of her needed things completed to reach her creative aspiration. We decide to give her a change to get a social one and she heads out to chat with the adults walking by. I also happen to love Belle’s “hot” clothing, and I haven’t touched any of these guys (other than Kiana obviously) so what they have is what the game gave them.

Belle reaches her social skills up quite a bit more and manages to get the Sociability badge for scouts pretty quickly. She also easily gets the Scholarly Aptitude one. So, because everyone is needing some fun chess is played, and watched by Johnny.

Belle sees the girl she is trying to be friends with, who I keep forgetting to write the name down of, and invites her in to try and make friends with her.

They talk and talk for most of the afternoon, build a sandcastle together, do the scouts secret handshake together and never manage to finish making friends. They are closer, however, and since it’s Love Day we needed to focus on her parents more.

Kiana and Johnny do a bunch of Love Day activities and head out on a date after giving each other gifts and flowers. The date goes well and they end it about 15 minutes early because they are both so tired after a full day of work, and an exciting date.

Belle has achieved yet another scouting badge in the Civic Responsibility badge and gets this alert.

Great job Belle!!!

Belle: Thanks, I really should work on the arts and crafts badge next, I already have so many crafts in my bag.

It’s true, I am sorry I haven’t let you focus on it much yet.

Belle, instead, is sent to go fishing for a while to work on the outdoors badge. This will also get her started on fishing skills she will need as a teen.

The family actually sits down to dinner with decent frequency and are very close with each other.

After looking at how much Kiana has been harvesting lately I decided it was time to have a farmer’s market again and Johnny, who had the day off, stocks up the table and starts trying to sell off a lot of the excess produce and flowers. Kiana keeps around 50 flowers and 10 to each vegetable to keep product to use at her bench or grill.

We then get a notification that Belle is growing up into a teenager. I head over to check out what she looks like now, and she looks a lot like her mom I think, only with blonde hair.

With her growing up we now get to start on the last requirement of this generation in giving her two skills to a level 5 in gardening, fishing, and/or culinary. With the size of our garden that should be an easy one for her to get, and then we will have to decide how to proceed from there. Join us in the next update when we get to start out with Belle’s teen years.

Generation 1: Garden of Eden

  • 2nd generation heir must get to level 5 skill of two of the following before he/she becomes a YA: gardening, fishing, cooking.

Belle Tripp has grown up into a child. I think she is quite a pretty mix of her parents. She got a happy toddler trait because we didn’t quite get that final, thinking, skill totally maxed. So also received the random trait, Loner.

A quick peak at the next generation shows she will need to be either a painter or a musician so she takes the artistic prodigy aspiration. Since it was evening, however, when she grew up the first thing we must do is get her a new, non-toddler bed and we expand the rooms out just a bit.

The next day, after Johnny finishes his work out for the day he sits down to spend time with his growing daughter. First they play with the dollhouse, where apparently Johnny’s doll didn’t do what he wanted it to.

Johnny: I told him he didn’t want to get involved with her!!! He didn’t listen and now she’s taking all his money!!!!!

Calm down Johnny, it’s just a game and your daughter is right there.

After that Kiana is working on laundry, a task that Johnny tends to be stuck with, while Johnny and Belle bond a little more over a conversation at the fire pit.

Johnny: …and so a pale man came in and I was standing in front of him with the worst feeling….

Uh, Johnny?

Johnny: Yes?

Maybe don’t terrify your daughter before bed on the chance there are monsters in her room tonight?

Kiana steps up to help out Belle with doing the homework she had to do before school. She does it without complaining, and also grabs a journal that she starts to write in as well.

Because she wants to be a creative prodigy we make sure to get a drawing bench for Belle and she sits down and wants to make holiday decorations. So we let her do that and drawn for a while.

All of those stories her dad was telling her must have had an impact because Belle goes out and grabs the Vampire tome and starts reading. She gets herself up to Vampire Lore level 2 before its time for bed.

The next day is school and work for everyone. Kiana works in the garden and at her flower arranging bench until everyone gets home for the day. Belle has brought home a class project of making a castle model.

Everyone sits down to work on it together. This really is a family that spends a lot of time together, even if it doesn’t always look like it. The castle turns out great and I love the little stained glass window on this side.

It is almost Winterfest and the night before Kiana brings something very exciting to the table. She has learned how to make baked potatoes. She looks very happy with this choice, and even Johnny looks thrilled. They also look like they are hiding a little something between them.

Belle’s decorations around hung around the house, she did a great job with them and is almost maxed on her creativity. There is a small pile of presents for everyone to open, they don’t have a lot in the way of things to give, unless Kiana just wants to gift everyone a million peppers and lemons.

The next morning Kiana slips another present into the pile, and it appears Johnny has too. The pile has grown a little since we saw it last night. They gather around as soon as everyone is up and through some basic morning needs and open up their gifts.

Most everyone is happy, except for Kiana who got a phone cover. She doesn’t even get to have one of those and is very sad with the pathetic gift. Belle got a new toy and is thrilled with it, and I don’t remember what Johnny got, but he liked his too.

The family sits down to enjoy their gifts and we notice that poor Belle has gotten sick. She plays with her toy for a little while and goes to get some rest.

Kiana starts getting prepared for the evening meal by grilling up everyone favorite dish, grilled fruit. It’s not really everyone favorite, but she has harvested so much fruit it’s the easiest thing to make.

Later that night Saint Nick makes his appearance and of course everyone asks for another gift. This time Kiana gets something better, although I don’t fully remember what anymore, and is happy that he came. Soon after everyone is exhausted and ready for bed, however.

Belle is a very good child, and often does her homework all by herself without having to be asked to do it. Kiana is trying to get her next flower arranging level by reading it at least part of the way up.

There is also now a chess table outside for the family to gain some skills on, and Kiana and Belle go out to play it. We can tell that it holiday decorations have been forgotten since Harvestfest and we still need to take them down.

Then it’s time for New Year’s. The year has come to an end and the family makes their resolutions:

Kiana: I want to get a skill level!

Johnny: I want to get a promotion at work!

Belle: Um….I guess I’ll go for a skill too.

Great! You all have chosen things that should be easy for you to reach!

Kiana and Belle both earned theirs before the end of the day. Belle has managed to max her creative skill and only has to spend some time playing an instrument and drawing to max her aspiration. Kiana is at level 7 in her job currently and is basically ready for her promotion. Three more levels and we get a fridge! Johnny is only at level 5, but is also basically ready for a promotion anytime. Belle still only has a B in school and is currently no where close to maxing out another skill, but we will see what this next week brings. The family toasts the new year and heads to bed.

The house has grown again. Now that Belle is born we have the option for a third room, which is great. We have also, since we will start getting a lot more embarrassment soon from toilets and bath time, move everything to the side of the house, and put up wooden “shields” It’s open but not quite as visible until you come around the side. We also have been selling some of our produce at the sellers table. I didn’t see anything in the rules saying it wasn’t allowed, and I would imagine that having a bit of a “farmers market” would work. We can also see where Kiana got enough reading in on vampires to make some garlic objects to try and keep Vlad from coming back, although we have not seen him since that one night.

Belle grabs some breakfast when she wakes up and goes to eat it in her room. I had forgotten to pull a chair out for her so this is the easiest place for her to eat today.

Then it’s bath time. Belle LOVES the bath. She splashes around and giggles and laughs through the entire thing. I’m not sure who got more wet, Belle or Kiana. It was a very cute set of interactions.

Belle plays dolls with Johnny after he gets home from work. Belle is growing in her skills. She now has maxed potty and imagination. Still working on movement, thinking, and communication.

Since she is doing so well with getting many of her skills, and is really quite a good little kid, if sad much of the time due to being clingy, Kiana decides it’s time for a play session.

This sadly backfires as Belle got a boo boo and was sad for a while that night. Thank goodness dinner came around and everyone sat down to eat their grilled fruit. Belle is back to a happy child.

Sadly, with a toddler running around Kiana ha not been able to spend as much on on her garden as she would like. Even sadder, the cow plant seed that Johnny found fishing and brought home for Kiana has perished.

Thinking the issue might be the size and chaos of the garden we decide we need to organize and probably trim down the garden a bit. We’ve wanted to organize for a while and it’s time.

They have been selling enough to manage to to get garden boxes and get everything more organized by season. This should help Kiana with fertilizing, knowing which plants to care for when and generally help with keeping up on it more.

Little Belle LOVES her grilled fruit, but I know Kiana will be happy to be able to make something else.

Kiana: I am tried, and this babbling child is exhausting today.

I know, but it’s important for her to learn to communicate like this.

Kiana: Could I not at least have made some different for breakfast?

You are almost up another level in cooking. Also your onions are coming in soon so you can start to make a breakfast scramble, I promise.

Kiana: *sigh* All right, come Belle, it’s time to work with the flashcards.

The next day is Harvestfest and when Johnny comes home and finishes his work out he lets Kiana go to be early. She has had a long day of being alone with Belle and was in need of sleep. Instead he brings her and their dinner outside to sit by the fire.

Harvestfest starts off with gnome appearing, and neither Johnny or Kiana have any luck appeasing them with gifts. When they head out to the garden Kiana has better luck apologizing to them and after much shocking and apologizing and shocking and apologizing, all of the gnomes are satisfied.

They don’t have the ability to have a big feast but instead of additional grilled fruit is made. The family ended up having a very enjoyable Harvestfest and the gnome left a ton of seeds, many that Kiana had not yet gotten her hands on. So the garden is adjusted and new plants added.

Belle has managed to to max her communication, imagination, movement, and potty, and got thinking up to level 4. She will be growing up soon. We are almost through the first year with this family and they have been very successful so far.

Love day here in for our happy little couple and they should be able to enjoy the day without any problems, except for maybe Kiana being very pregnant at this point. After waking up and taking care of initial needs the couple sits down to some more grilled fruit, and they talk about what they want to do today.

Kiana starts off by giving Johnny a flower. While daisies are a common enough flower in these parts Johnny loves the fact it came from Kiana.

Then, of course, they decide to throw some confetti around to share the joy of love. It’s a good thing confetti doesn’t work the same way as it does in the real world because they would be picking up that stuff for ages to come. Still, it’s an enjoyable experience for them both.

Johnny decides to give the baby some love on this special day too and talks to it. Kiana’s look of happiness as her husband speaks to their unborn child,

Kiana: It’s a girl, our unborn daughter!

Right, right….

The look on her face, however, is just so sweet, serene, and she is very happy with how things are going so far. I love it.

They go on a date to the big park in town to just hang out around other people. Johnny gives Kiana a nice back rub, which probably feels good to her, what with carrying a baby and doing all the gardening.

They have an enjoyable date, both getting all the interactions they need in for the Love Day celebration and it’s back home where there always seems to be something to do. On this day Johnny takes on handling a lot of the gardening for Kiana while a visitor tries to talk to him.

Kiana is left to fix the breaking toilet. You wouldn’t think, without running water, that a toilet would be able to break in this way, but alas, it and the tub do so with decent regularity and Kiana has the skills typically to fix it so it is left to her.

After a wonderfully successful Love Day Kiana and Johnny get back into the routines for work and carrying for the things around the house. Kiana is doing great at her job and is about at a decision point, does she go for botany or for flower arranging. Before we have to make that decision though I see this face.

That face can really only mean one thing. Labor is here.

Kiana: Yes, labor is here, our daughter will be arriving soon.

Well go get in the house, lets not have the baby out in the garden.

Kiana: Can you please hurry up and buy a bassinet for our daughter?

Oh, I didn’t realize I had to buy one of those! Sorry Kiana!! Here you go

Kiana: It’s about time! Whoohooohooohooo. JOHNNY!!!!!!

A little time passes while we anxiously await the birth to see if Kiana was right about the sex of the baby.

Kiana: I would like to introduce you to our DAUGHTER, Belle.

All right already, I know we fed you strawberries but nothing is ever really guaranteed. Still, CONGRATS!!! She is beautiful!

  • Women must have babies at home – NO hospital.

With a baby girl being born our hopes for a matriarchy are still alive and the next handful of days fly by in diaper changes, feedings, work, sleep, and general life. Kiana’s garden has been flourishing and is getting bigger and bigger.

Poor Johnny is still struggling through getting his fitness points. I get the feeling Johnny was never much of an athlete. Still, he is getting better. Off to the side you can see Kiana is fixing the tub yet again.

Happily chatting away at dinner one night they realize it’s almost time for their baby Belle to grow up into a toddler. This means we need money and toddler things. Both are quite happy with this baby girl.

Johnny is, in fact, a great dad, as expected. He is very smitten over his little girl.

Johnny: Sweet little baby girl. Ten little fingers, ten little toes…

You know, she won’t stay this little for that long….

Johnny: Yeah I know, but how can you not be amazed by such a little person. Kiana and I made her, she is part of both of us.

Yes, that is true Johnny, and the miracle of life is quite, well, a miracle. How do you feel about being a dad now?

Johnny: It’s amazing. I’m not ready for her to grow up, but I also can’t wait to see what she’s like. I hope we can teach her all she needs to know.

I will do my best to help. I’m learning this toddler thing too.

Ready or not, it’s time for Belle to grow up. I did have to laugh at the fact this picture shows her leaping out of her bassinet, but then the “baby” part getting stuck in mid-air while the toddler emerges on the floor. 🙂

Meet baby Belle Tripp. She got the clingy trait (I’m almost positive,) but blond hair just like her daddy. It’s hard to see with the little hoodie, and I love her little boots.

Belle is not very happy with the idea of being put to bed. She JUST became a toddler and wants to stay up playing all night. Still, after a little bit of a fight they manage to get her into bed, read her a story, and get some much needed sleep for themselves.

The next day Johnny is asked to work out with a sparring bot, which isn’t allowed for building body, so we decide Johnny can no longer work from home. The next day he will go into the office. Today, however, Johnny fixed the clothes line, which always seems to need repairing, and Belle watches him scrounge for usable parts from the pile.

Belle then spends time on her slide, and even Johnny comes over and helps her climb up and slide down, over and over again. She is having fun, but decides she wants to do something different pretty quickly.

So we move over to the dollhouse. Both parents are done with their chores for the day so Kiana and Johnny both join her in playing with her dollies.

Poor Belle gets sad often from playing with her dollhouse because they don’t talk to her, and they don’t do what she wants them to do. I understand the feeling Belle. So after being frustrated by the dolls she goes to the potty instead.

Meanwhile, inside, Kiana has made her choice and gone into flower arranging. She has so many flowers growing in her garden that it seems the obvious choice, so she begins the work on learning it.

That night a tired Kiana puts a very tired Belle to bed with a story. She proves to be a very animated story teller, and Belle likes it when dad reads her to sleep, but she LOVES it when mom does it.

We send Johnny out on a job to gain some fitness. Now that he is in the military he’s going to be doing a lot more working out. We didn’t get a chance to learn about Johnny before so let’s do that now.

Johnny is Ambitious, Outgoing, Goofball, and Gregarious who wants to become a Joke Star. Sadly that ambition is not likely to ever come to pass for Johnny.

Johnny: What?? What do you mean I won’t get to be a joke star?

Johnny, there is no electricity in this scenario. There is no way for you to tell joke at a microphone so I just don’t think it’s going to happen.

Johnny: But what happened? I had a job at a comedy club that had microphones before.

Yes, yes, I know you did, but it’s gone now. We will get you as high as we can, and don’t worry I promise you will have a happy life either way. Now get to your jogging!

When Johnny gets back from his jog he starts out by helping out with the laundry. Of course, there are already clothes hanging on the line, and Johnny ends up just leaving the clothes in the tub for now, but at least he gotten started.

After the couple completes some of the daily tasks they have for the day and Kiana takes care of their growing garden the couple heads down to the fishing spot right behind their house and down the hill.

Then it’s back home to have some additional fun. The couple are now in a soulmate status and very happy with each other and very in love. We only get one baby (or really one pregnancy) in the family for this challenge.

The next day Kiana heads out to make some breakfast for them and in the course of that happening the grill catches on fire. Kiana grabs the food, runs into the house and discovers she is also now on fire!!

Luckily, Johnny was able to extinguish her before anything bad happens. This is the second time Kiana has burned herself, as she caught her arm on fire with the fire pit once already too. After the terrifying scene of almost burning the house down and losing our founder, life is able to go back to normal the next day. Johnny works from home this day and has to get a fitness skill. He is not great at the fitness yet, but I’m willing to bet that being in the military will quickly work him out.

While Johnny works out Kiana tends to her growing garden. During her collection runs we have found many strawberries and have discovered we can plant a few to be able to get some of our own. That will be good for future generations who we want to keep having girls for.

Late at night we have a very unwelcome visitor.

The funny thing is, Vlad here came in and dazed poor Johnny. Johnny got up from bed, walked over to Vlad who looked at him, turned around and gathered up the dishes sitting around the home. He threw them into a trashcan, which he then hit out of what I can only assume is the frustration of not being able to “perform.” After seeing the mess he made from losing his temper, he quickly picks up the mess and deposits it back into the trash. He then walks back in the house, but instead of going for Johnny again picks up a book and sits down to read. I go ahead and send Johnny back to bed at this point, and after reading for a few hours Vlad walks off the lot and all Johnny remembers is having a bad dream.

We do get to see that Kiana is pregnant, YAY a new little Tripp is on the way. Kiana makes some grilled fruit again, they will be very happy when they get some additional foods they can make. During the meal Johnny tells Kiana about the weird dreams he had the night before.

Kiana is supposed to research gardening, which unfortunately uses the “un-allowed” computer, but we decide for this one day to allow her to go to the library and use the computer just to get that done.

Kiana: After those weird dream Johnny told me about I want to see what they have about vampires.

I would agree, we should make sure to do what we can to keep vampires away from you and Johnny and the baby.

Kiana: I have found a vampire book! Now, let me spend time reading.

Sadly, Kiana did not learn enough about vampires to know how to protect her family, but she ordered the book and headed home. After getting home her hungry was starting to grow more and more, so she made sure to munch on some fresh strawberries. We need a baby girl after all.

Sadly, the very next day, Johnny was going to need to use a forbidden item. His job wanted him to use the weight machine. One more of these and we will not let them work from home much longer. We go ahead and send him to the gym and he uses the weight machine just long enough to met his job agreement and heads home.

It is almost love day and Kiana is still managing to keep up on her garden and it’s starting to grow quite big.

Kiana: The plants are growing well and the baby will have plenty of food when she arrives.

Don’t you mean he or she? We don’t know that you are having a girl.

Kiana: No, it will be a she. I have eaten enough strawberries, I am sure of it. The plants will not forsake me.

Johnny is sent down to continue catching fish. We are starting to get a decent collection of them, and any duplicates we are able to eat. He is also pulling up more and more boxes with collectibles in them. We have been selling most of these, we need money to buy baby things and toddler things soon.

Johnny, you are getting pretty decent at fishing. You enjoying your life so far? Ready to be a dad?

Johnny: I was just sitting here thinking about how I’m going to do as being a dad. I don’t know if I’m ready.

I’m going to let you in on a not so well kept secret, I don’t think anyone would ever say they were ready to be a parent.

Johnny: We just have so little still to offer a baby. I mean, I love Kiana and she does so much I just don’t know what I’ll be able to offer.

You will be there for your child, and give him, or her, all your love and all the time you have to spare. Don’t worry, I’ll help you.

Johnny: If you say so.

That brings us to an end of this chapter with the Tripp family. Kiana is getting closer to having the baby, and will Vlad come back and finish the job of drinking from Johnny before Kiana can learn the secrets of keeping them away?

EPIC Tripp: Garden of Eden – 1.01

Prologue | Rules Page | Post 1.02

If you have found this page to read about a Sims 4 EPIC challenge then you are in the right place. If you found me by accident, but decide to check it out you are also very welcome, as is everyone who wants to read. I have set up a big of a prologue that will go over some information about this challenge that you can get to above, or you can read the rules page as well. Here we get started with generation 1.

The rules above are what I have to try and follow as well as the initial challenge base rules and the mini challenges I have selected to attempt, which can be found in the prologue.

Kiana Tripp moves to a lot in Oasis Springs. She picks Pebble Burrow as it has close proximity to fishing.

  • Must plant a garden on the lot. Founder should choose a lot with easy access to a fishing hole.

We build out a small, one room house and place the washing tub, clothes line, toilet and bathtub outside. Everything is lit either by some lanterns that would be candles or candles directly. Here is what we end up with on the outside:

  • House may only be wood or stone, with a dirt, stone, or wood floor. Wooden windows are allowed.
  • Electricity has not yet been invented, so NO lights (except candles/torches) or electronics.
  • Toilet must be placed outside, outhouse-style (except without the “house” part…so no walls enclosing it).
  • No showers allowed, and the tub must be placed outside (I.E. filled with pond water).
  • Only the cheapest washing machine is allowed, and no dryer (just the clothes line). If you have the wash tub, that would be most appropriate to start.

Kiana is ready to go and has the aspiration to be a Freelance Botanist. Since our female must either get into gardening or culinary she will go with gardening. She gets to buy some seeds and she instantly gets started with planting them.

  • Male founder or male spouse must enroll in the military, astronaut, or gardening career. A female founder or female spouse must enroll in the culinary or gardening career.

Now that she has her plants planted and we are working on our aspiration it’s time to find a Mr. Tripp to join us on this….well trip. 🙂 Luckily the welcome wagon comes, and since one of our mini challenges is to find someone within the pre-mades she greats them and checks everyone out. Two men are there are strike us as possible candidates.

She gets along the best with Mr. Johnny Zest (on the right) but before anything beyond some general conversation can happen Johnny says he needs to head home. Kiana doesn’t mind, she has additional work to do in the garden. She whistles a happy little tune while watering and tending to the plants.

Then, as night begins to fall on Kiana’s first day here in Oasis Springs she heads out for a collection run.

Kiana: Why am I being required to go do this? I’m tired.

Because we need to see what is out there and I see some strawberries, which you are going to need if you are to carry on a matriarchy.

Kiana: Fine, but afterwards I want a bath.

The next day dawns and Kiana has to find a way to cook some food. Luckily she has some money, and although I am supposed to be eating from my garden, she starts up roasting a hot dog over her fire pit.

Kiana takes a bath because it’s a big day. We are going to go visit Johnny Zest today, as he lives across the road and we really think they hit it off enough to bring him in. Plus, I think he’s genes will mix in nicely for future generations.

Ok Kiana we are going to see if Johnny is interesting into you in that way, and if so we’ll see how far it goes.

Kiana: He will love me of course!

Uh huh, I’m sure he will. Although you are apparently one of the only sims I’ve heard about that LIKED the fruitcake the welcome wagon brought

Kiana: But it was AMAZING, a dish like that has to use more than a fire pit, and what were those fruits in there that were so sweet?

Let’s focus on getting you over to Johnny’s huh?

Kiana wasn’t wrong, Johnny took no time in being completely smitten with her and although we had to play this a couple of times because I moved the households around the wrong way the first time we end up with a happy couple having a quick marriage before anyone can change their mind.

Mr. Johnny Vest is now Mr. Johnny Tripp and sadly he will likely never reach his aspiration as he wants to be a Joke Star. Now I know I could probably go in and change it, but in sticking with the idea of finding and marrying in sims from the hood, I’m going to leave him as is. He quits his job in Comedy and joins the Military instead.

  • Male founder or male spouse must enroll in the military, astronaut, or gardening career. A female founder or female spouse must enroll in the culinary or gardening career.

That means we are able to add a second room onto the house!!! So we push the walls back and you get a peak inside where we now of a living area and a bedroom.

With all of those events for the first couple of days here in Oasis Springs we will wrap up this post and be back for potentially more drama as these two begin their lives together attempting to reach level 10 of a career so we can get a fridge!

EPIC Tripp: Prologue Information

Rules Page | Post 1.01

Welcome to all who find their way here. So during SimNaNo on boolprop.net I started reading through a lot of different The Sims 4 blogs and discovered the EPIC challenge. I have linked to the rules page I have followed that is posted over on the boolprop.net. This is quite a challenge and does all sorts of rules and choices that you have to make. You are welcome to check them out and I will also post the general rules for my generation on the posts as well.

The General Rules I have to follow:

  • CC is fine, but using mods in a way that gives you unbalanced advantages is not.
  • Due to a shortage of the availability of birth control, the world is overpopulated. The government puts strict limits in effect: Sims may only have one child per household.
  • There can only be one baby per generation, unless you randomly get twins/triplets (Fertile trait and On Ley Line lot traits are not allowed). If that happens, the eldest will be heir/heiress, and you may not control the others at all throughout their lives. Upon YA-hood, all non-heirs must move out immediately.
  • Homes are limited to one room in the house per occupant. For example, a house with just the founder will be a studio with everything open (half-walls are allowed, however). A house with the founder, his spouse, and his child can have a kitchen, a living room, and a bedroom. When the founder grows old and passes on, you do not have to delete a room now that you have one less sim in the house, but the next time you add a sim to the household, that existing room is claimed by the new sim, and another may not be added.
  • The family may move to different towns or lots, but the room rule must apply, so if you move just your heir to a new lot, he’ll be back down to a one-room house again.

Additionally there are rules for each generation which I will post on those posts as well as rules that you can pick and chose from to add additional mini challenges as well. I have picked some of these to try and follow and we will see how it goes.

All right let’s get started into this challenge.

Meet Kiana Tripp. She will be our founder and has the following traits: Loves Outdoors, Creative, Self-Assured, and Collector.

Our Founder

We will see you during the first chapter of Gen 1 which is known as the Garden of Eden generation.
