Generation 1: Garden of Eden

  • Women must have babies at home – NO hospital.
  • 2nd generation heir must get to level 5 skill of two of the following before he/she becomes a YA: gardening, fishing, cooking.
  • Scouts are allowed for the children and teens.

    Gen 1 Mini Challenge:
  • NO fridge allowed until the founder or spouse reaches level 10 of his/her chosen career. Sims must eat from their own garden. Before their garden is providing food, they will have to find others’ gardens from which to eat. +3 points
    >>Wood-burning stove can be used once the fridge is unlocked

The house has grown again. Now that Belle is born we have the option for a third room, which is great. We have also, since we will start getting a lot more embarrassment soon from toilets and bath time, move everything to the side of the house, and put up wooden “shields” It’s open but not quite as visible until you come around the side. We also have been selling some of our produce at the sellers table. I didn’t see anything in the rules saying it wasn’t allowed, and I would imagine that having a bit of a “farmers market” would work. We can also see where Kiana got enough reading in on vampires to make some garlic objects to try and keep Vlad from coming back, although we have not seen him since that one night.

Belle grabs some breakfast when she wakes up and goes to eat it in her room. I had forgotten to pull a chair out for her so this is the easiest place for her to eat today.

Then it’s bath time. Belle LOVES the bath. She splashes around and giggles and laughs through the entire thing. I’m not sure who got more wet, Belle or Kiana. It was a very cute set of interactions.

Belle plays dolls with Johnny after he gets home from work. Belle is growing in her skills. She now has maxed potty and imagination. Still working on movement, thinking, and communication.

Since she is doing so well with getting many of her skills, and is really quite a good little kid, if sad much of the time due to being clingy, Kiana decides it’s time for a play session.

This sadly backfires as Belle got a boo boo and was sad for a while that night. Thank goodness dinner came around and everyone sat down to eat their grilled fruit. Belle is back to a happy child.

Sadly, with a toddler running around Kiana ha not been able to spend as much on on her garden as she would like. Even sadder, the cow plant seed that Johnny found fishing and brought home for Kiana has perished.

Thinking the issue might be the size and chaos of the garden we decide we need to organize and probably trim down the garden a bit. We’ve wanted to organize for a while and it’s time.

They have been selling enough to manage to to get garden boxes and get everything more organized by season. This should help Kiana with fertilizing, knowing which plants to care for when and generally help with keeping up on it more.

Little Belle LOVES her grilled fruit, but I know Kiana will be happy to be able to make something else.

Kiana: I am tried, and this babbling child is exhausting today.

I know, but it’s important for her to learn to communicate like this.

Kiana: Could I not at least have made some different for breakfast?

You are almost up another level in cooking. Also your onions are coming in soon so you can start to make a breakfast scramble, I promise.

Kiana: *sigh* All right, come Belle, it’s time to work with the flashcards.

The next day is Harvestfest and when Johnny comes home and finishes his work out he lets Kiana go to be early. She has had a long day of being alone with Belle and was in need of sleep. Instead he brings her and their dinner outside to sit by the fire.

Harvestfest starts off with gnome appearing, and neither Johnny or Kiana have any luck appeasing them with gifts. When they head out to the garden Kiana has better luck apologizing to them and after much shocking and apologizing and shocking and apologizing, all of the gnomes are satisfied.

They don’t have the ability to have a big feast but instead of additional grilled fruit is made. The family ended up having a very enjoyable Harvestfest and the gnome left a ton of seeds, many that Kiana had not yet gotten her hands on. So the garden is adjusted and new plants added.

Belle has managed to to max her communication, imagination, movement, and potty, and got thinking up to level 4. She will be growing up soon. We are almost through the first year with this family and they have been very successful so far.

Generation 1: Garden of Eden

  • Women must have babies at home – NO hospital.
  • Can only gain athletic skill from the weight bench, jogging or swimming. Also, you can use the punching bag.

Love day here in for our happy little couple and they should be able to enjoy the day without any problems, except for maybe Kiana being very pregnant at this point. After waking up and taking care of initial needs the couple sits down to some more grilled fruit, and they talk about what they want to do today.

Kiana starts off by giving Johnny a flower. While daisies are a common enough flower in these parts Johnny loves the fact it came from Kiana.

Then, of course, they decide to throw some confetti around to share the joy of love. It’s a good thing confetti doesn’t work the same way as it does in the real world because they would be picking up that stuff for ages to come. Still, it’s an enjoyable experience for them both.

Johnny decides to give the baby some love on this special day too and talks to it. Kiana’s look of happiness as her husband speaks to their unborn child,

Kiana: It’s a girl, our unborn daughter!

Right, right….

The look on her face, however, is just so sweet, serene, and she is very happy with how things are going so far. I love it.

They go on a date to the big park in town to just hang out around other people. Johnny gives Kiana a nice back rub, which probably feels good to her, what with carrying a baby and doing all the gardening.

They have an enjoyable date, both getting all the interactions they need in for the Love Day celebration and it’s back home where there always seems to be something to do. On this day Johnny takes on handling a lot of the gardening for Kiana while a visitor tries to talk to him.

Kiana is left to fix the breaking toilet. You wouldn’t think, without running water, that a toilet would be able to break in this way, but alas, it and the tub do so with decent regularity and Kiana has the skills typically to fix it so it is left to her.

After a wonderfully successful Love Day Kiana and Johnny get back into the routines for work and carrying for the things around the house. Kiana is doing great at her job and is about at a decision point, does she go for botany or for flower arranging. Before we have to make that decision though I see this face.

That face can really only mean one thing. Labor is here.

Kiana: Yes, labor is here, our daughter will be arriving soon.

Well go get in the house, lets not have the baby out in the garden.

Kiana: Can you please hurry up and buy a bassinet for our daughter?

Oh, I didn’t realize I had to buy one of those! Sorry Kiana!! Here you go

Kiana: It’s about time! Whoohooohooohooo. JOHNNY!!!!!!

A little time passes while we anxiously await the birth to see if Kiana was right about the sex of the baby.

Kiana: I would like to introduce you to our DAUGHTER, Belle.

All right already, I know we fed you strawberries but nothing is ever really guaranteed. Still, CONGRATS!!! She is beautiful!

  • Women must have babies at home – NO hospital.

With a baby girl being born our hopes for a matriarchy are still alive and the next handful of days fly by in diaper changes, feedings, work, sleep, and general life. Kiana’s garden has been flourishing and is getting bigger and bigger.

Poor Johnny is still struggling through getting his fitness points. I get the feeling Johnny was never much of an athlete. Still, he is getting better. Off to the side you can see Kiana is fixing the tub yet again.

Happily chatting away at dinner one night they realize it’s almost time for their baby Belle to grow up into a toddler. This means we need money and toddler things. Both are quite happy with this baby girl.

Johnny is, in fact, a great dad, as expected. He is very smitten over his little girl.

Johnny: Sweet little baby girl. Ten little fingers, ten little toes…

You know, she won’t stay this little for that long….

Johnny: Yeah I know, but how can you not be amazed by such a little person. Kiana and I made her, she is part of both of us.

Yes, that is true Johnny, and the miracle of life is quite, well, a miracle. How do you feel about being a dad now?

Johnny: It’s amazing. I’m not ready for her to grow up, but I also can’t wait to see what she’s like. I hope we can teach her all she needs to know.

I will do my best to help. I’m learning this toddler thing too.

Ready or not, it’s time for Belle to grow up. I did have to laugh at the fact this picture shows her leaping out of her bassinet, but then the “baby” part getting stuck in mid-air while the toddler emerges on the floor. 🙂

Meet baby Belle Tripp. She got the clingy trait (I’m almost positive,) but blond hair just like her daddy. It’s hard to see with the little hoodie, and I love her little boots.

Belle is not very happy with the idea of being put to bed. She JUST became a toddler and wants to stay up playing all night. Still, after a little bit of a fight they manage to get her into bed, read her a story, and get some much needed sleep for themselves.

The next day Johnny is asked to work out with a sparring bot, which isn’t allowed for building body, so we decide Johnny can no longer work from home. The next day he will go into the office. Today, however, Johnny fixed the clothes line, which always seems to need repairing, and Belle watches him scrounge for usable parts from the pile.

Belle then spends time on her slide, and even Johnny comes over and helps her climb up and slide down, over and over again. She is having fun, but decides she wants to do something different pretty quickly.

So we move over to the dollhouse. Both parents are done with their chores for the day so Kiana and Johnny both join her in playing with her dollies.

Poor Belle gets sad often from playing with her dollhouse because they don’t talk to her, and they don’t do what she wants them to do. I understand the feeling Belle. So after being frustrated by the dolls she goes to the potty instead.

Meanwhile, inside, Kiana has made her choice and gone into flower arranging. She has so many flowers growing in her garden that it seems the obvious choice, so she begins the work on learning it.

That night a tired Kiana puts a very tired Belle to bed with a story. She proves to be a very animated story teller, and Belle likes it when dad reads her to sleep, but she LOVES it when mom does it.

We send Johnny out on a job to gain some fitness. Now that he is in the military he’s going to be doing a lot more working out. We didn’t get a chance to learn about Johnny before so let’s do that now.

Johnny is Ambitious, Outgoing, Goofball, and Gregarious who wants to become a Joke Star. Sadly that ambition is not likely to ever come to pass for Johnny.

Johnny: What?? What do you mean I won’t get to be a joke star?

Johnny, there is no electricity in this scenario. There is no way for you to tell joke at a microphone so I just don’t think it’s going to happen.

Johnny: But what happened? I had a job at a comedy club that had microphones before.

Yes, yes, I know you did, but it’s gone now. We will get you as high as we can, and don’t worry I promise you will have a happy life either way. Now get to your jogging!

When Johnny gets back from his jog he starts out by helping out with the laundry. Of course, there are already clothes hanging on the line, and Johnny ends up just leaving the clothes in the tub for now, but at least he gotten started.

After the couple completes some of the daily tasks they have for the day and Kiana takes care of their growing garden the couple heads down to the fishing spot right behind their house and down the hill.

Then it’s back home to have some additional fun. The couple are now in a soulmate status and very happy with each other and very in love. We only get one baby (or really one pregnancy) in the family for this challenge.

The next day Kiana heads out to make some breakfast for them and in the course of that happening the grill catches on fire. Kiana grabs the food, runs into the house and discovers she is also now on fire!!

Luckily, Johnny was able to extinguish her before anything bad happens. This is the second time Kiana has burned herself, as she caught her arm on fire with the fire pit once already too. After the terrifying scene of almost burning the house down and losing our founder, life is able to go back to normal the next day. Johnny works from home this day and has to get a fitness skill. He is not great at the fitness yet, but I’m willing to bet that being in the military will quickly work him out.

While Johnny works out Kiana tends to her growing garden. During her collection runs we have found many strawberries and have discovered we can plant a few to be able to get some of our own. That will be good for future generations who we want to keep having girls for.

Late at night we have a very unwelcome visitor.

The funny thing is, Vlad here came in and dazed poor Johnny. Johnny got up from bed, walked over to Vlad who looked at him, turned around and gathered up the dishes sitting around the home. He threw them into a trashcan, which he then hit out of what I can only assume is the frustration of not being able to “perform.” After seeing the mess he made from losing his temper, he quickly picks up the mess and deposits it back into the trash. He then walks back in the house, but instead of going for Johnny again picks up a book and sits down to read. I go ahead and send Johnny back to bed at this point, and after reading for a few hours Vlad walks off the lot and all Johnny remembers is having a bad dream.

We do get to see that Kiana is pregnant, YAY a new little Tripp is on the way. Kiana makes some grilled fruit again, they will be very happy when they get some additional foods they can make. During the meal Johnny tells Kiana about the weird dreams he had the night before.

Kiana is supposed to research gardening, which unfortunately uses the “un-allowed” computer, but we decide for this one day to allow her to go to the library and use the computer just to get that done.

Kiana: After those weird dream Johnny told me about I want to see what they have about vampires.

I would agree, we should make sure to do what we can to keep vampires away from you and Johnny and the baby.

Kiana: I have found a vampire book! Now, let me spend time reading.

Sadly, Kiana did not learn enough about vampires to know how to protect her family, but she ordered the book and headed home. After getting home her hungry was starting to grow more and more, so she made sure to munch on some fresh strawberries. We need a baby girl after all.

Sadly, the very next day, Johnny was going to need to use a forbidden item. His job wanted him to use the weight machine. One more of these and we will not let them work from home much longer. We go ahead and send him to the gym and he uses the weight machine just long enough to met his job agreement and heads home.

It is almost love day and Kiana is still managing to keep up on her garden and it’s starting to grow quite big.

Kiana: The plants are growing well and the baby will have plenty of food when she arrives.

Don’t you mean he or she? We don’t know that you are having a girl.

Kiana: No, it will be a she. I have eaten enough strawberries, I am sure of it. The plants will not forsake me.

Johnny is sent down to continue catching fish. We are starting to get a decent collection of them, and any duplicates we are able to eat. He is also pulling up more and more boxes with collectibles in them. We have been selling most of these, we need money to buy baby things and toddler things soon.

Johnny, you are getting pretty decent at fishing. You enjoying your life so far? Ready to be a dad?

Johnny: I was just sitting here thinking about how I’m going to do as being a dad. I don’t know if I’m ready.

I’m going to let you in on a not so well kept secret, I don’t think anyone would ever say they were ready to be a parent.

Johnny: We just have so little still to offer a baby. I mean, I love Kiana and she does so much I just don’t know what I’ll be able to offer.

You will be there for your child, and give him, or her, all your love and all the time you have to spare. Don’t worry, I’ll help you.

Johnny: If you say so.

That brings us to an end of this chapter with the Tripp family. Kiana is getting closer to having the baby, and will Vlad come back and finish the job of drinking from Johnny before Kiana can learn the secrets of keeping them away?

EPIC Tripp: Garden of Eden – 1.01

Prologue | Rules Page | Post 1.02

If you have found this page to read about a Sims 4 EPIC challenge then you are in the right place. If you found me by accident, but decide to check it out you are also very welcome, as is everyone who wants to read. I have set up a big of a prologue that will go over some information about this challenge that you can get to above, or you can read the rules page as well. Here we get started with generation 1.

Generation 1: Garden of Eden

  • Must plant a garden on the lot. Founder should choose a lot with easy access to a fishing hole.
  • House may only be wood or stone, with a dirt, stone, or wood floor. Wooden windows are allowed.
  • Electricity has not yet been invented, so NO lights (except candles/torches) or electronics.
  • Toilet must be placed outside, outhouse-style (except without the “house” part…so no walls enclosing it).
  • No showers allowed, and the tub must be placed outside (I.E. filled with pond water).
  • Since there is no running water, sprinklers may not be used.
  • Only the cheapest washing machine is allowed, and no dryer (just the clothes line). If you have the wash tub, that would be most appropriate to start.
  • Male founder or male spouse must enroll in the military, astronaut, or gardening career. A female founder or female spouse must enroll in the culinary or gardening career.
  • Women must have babies at home – NO hospital.
  • No vacation travel (planes haven’t been invented yet).
  • Can only gain athletic skill from the weight bench, jogging or swimming. Also, you can use the punching bag.
  • 2nd generation heir must get to level 5 skill of two of the following before he/she becomes a YA: gardening, fishing, cooking.
  • No phone use (they haven’t been invented yet). Must go to others’ houses to visit/meet someone. May travel within the towns (through loading screens but not on vacation). Phones can only be used to travel or take days off from work or school – they can’t be used to socialize.

The rules above are what I have to try and follow as well as the initial challenge base rules and the mini challenges I have selected to attempt, which can be found in the prologue.

Kiana Tripp moves to a lot in Oasis Springs. She picks Pebble Burrow as it has close proximity to fishing.

  • Must plant a garden on the lot. Founder should choose a lot with easy access to a fishing hole.

We build out a small, one room house and place the washing tub, clothes line, toilet and bathtub outside. Everything is lit either by some lanterns that would be candles or candles directly. Here is what we end up with on the outside:

  • House may only be wood or stone, with a dirt, stone, or wood floor. Wooden windows are allowed.
  • Electricity has not yet been invented, so NO lights (except candles/torches) or electronics.
  • Toilet must be placed outside, outhouse-style (except without the “house” part…so no walls enclosing it).
  • No showers allowed, and the tub must be placed outside (I.E. filled with pond water).
  • Only the cheapest washing machine is allowed, and no dryer (just the clothes line). If you have the wash tub, that would be most appropriate to start.

Kiana is ready to go and has the aspiration to be a Freelance Botanist. Since our female must either get into gardening or culinary she will go with gardening. She gets to buy some seeds and she instantly gets started with planting them.

  • Male founder or male spouse must enroll in the military, astronaut, or gardening career. A female founder or female spouse must enroll in the culinary or gardening career.

Now that she has her plants planted and we are working on our aspiration it’s time to find a Mr. Tripp to join us on this….well trip. 🙂 Luckily the welcome wagon comes, and since one of our mini challenges is to find someone within the pre-mades she greats them and checks everyone out. Two men are there are strike us as possible candidates.

She gets along the best with Mr. Johnny Zest (on the right) but before anything beyond some general conversation can happen Johnny says he needs to head home. Kiana doesn’t mind, she has additional work to do in the garden. She whistles a happy little tune while watering and tending to the plants.

Then, as night begins to fall on Kiana’s first day here in Oasis Springs she heads out for a collection run.

Kiana: Why am I being required to go do this? I’m tired.

Because we need to see what is out there and I see some strawberries, which you are going to need if you are to carry on a matriarchy.

Kiana: Fine, but afterwards I want a bath.

The next day dawns and Kiana has to find a way to cook some food. Luckily she has some money, and although I am supposed to be eating from my garden, she starts up roasting a hot dog over her fire pit.

Kiana takes a bath because it’s a big day. We are going to go visit Johnny Zest today, as he lives across the road and we really think they hit it off enough to bring him in. Plus, I think he’s genes will mix in nicely for future generations.

Ok Kiana we are going to see if Johnny is interesting into you in that way, and if so we’ll see how far it goes.

Kiana: He will love me of course!

Uh huh, I’m sure he will. Although you are apparently one of the only sims I’ve heard about that LIKED the fruitcake the welcome wagon brought

Kiana: But it was AMAZING, a dish like that has to use more than a fire pit, and what were those fruits in there that were so sweet?

Let’s focus on getting you over to Johnny’s huh?

Kiana wasn’t wrong, Johnny took no time in being completely smitten with her and although we had to play this a couple of times because I moved the households around the wrong way the first time we end up with a happy couple having a quick marriage before anyone can change their mind.

Mr. Johnny Vest is now Mr. Johnny Tripp and sadly he will likely never reach his aspiration as he wants to be a Joke Star. Now I know I could probably go in and change it, but in sticking with the idea of finding and marrying in sims from the hood, I’m going to leave him as is. He quits his job in Comedy and joins the Military instead.

  • Male founder or male spouse must enroll in the military, astronaut, or gardening career. A female founder or female spouse must enroll in the culinary or gardening career.

That means we are able to add a second room onto the house!!! So we push the walls back and you get a peak inside where we now of a living area and a bedroom.

With all of those events for the first couple of days here in Oasis Springs we will wrap up this post and be back for potentially more drama as these two begin their lives together attempting to reach level 10 of a career so we can get a fridge!

EPIC Tripp: Prologue Information

Rules Page | Post 1.01

Welcome to all who find their way here. So during SimNaNo on boolprop.net I started reading through a lot of different The Sims 4 blogs and discovered the EPIC challenge. I have linked to the rules page I have followed that is posted over on the boolprop.net. This is quite a challenge and does all sorts of rules and choices that you have to make. You are welcome to check them out and I will also post the general rules for my generation on the posts as well.

The General Rules I have to follow:

  • CC is fine, but using mods in a way that gives you unbalanced advantages is not.
  • Due to a shortage of the availability of birth control, the world is overpopulated. The government puts strict limits in effect: Sims may only have one child per household.
  • There can only be one baby per generation, unless you randomly get twins/triplets (Fertile trait and On Ley Line lot traits are not allowed). If that happens, the eldest will be heir/heiress, and you may not control the others at all throughout their lives. Upon YA-hood, all non-heirs must move out immediately.
  • Homes are limited to one room in the house per occupant. For example, a house with just the founder will be a studio with everything open (half-walls are allowed, however). A house with the founder, his spouse, and his child can have a kitchen, a living room, and a bedroom. When the founder grows old and passes on, you do not have to delete a room now that you have one less sim in the house, but the next time you add a sim to the household, that existing room is claimed by the new sim, and another may not be added.
  • The family may move to different towns or lots, but the room rule must apply, so if you move just your heir to a new lot, he’ll be back down to a one-room house again.

Additionally there are rules for each generation which I will post on those posts as well as rules that you can pick and chose from to add additional mini challenges as well. I have picked some of these to try and follow and we will see how it goes.

Selected Mini-Challenges

Roll the Dice: Give yourself 5 extra points if you randomize traits of all children for the whole challenge (minus the required traits following the crossroads). You can still do this mini-challenge if you choose to have a passed-down family trait, as long as you roll for all the rest of the traits besides the family trait.

“Every family has one…”: This mini challenge is in addition to the Roll the Dice challenge. Give yourself 1 point for each sim who rolls the Erratic trait.

“No well-behaved woman ever made history.”: Can you make your challenge into a Matriarchy? Must use strawberries to try and give birth to girls so each generation can have an heiress. The use of mods to tamper with gender does not count! 10 points

Gnome Mania: Give yourself one point for each gnome on the family lot by the end of the challenge. Additionally, give yourself one point for each TYPE of gnome the family has collected. These are the gnomes you will receive during HarvestFest so do not cancel the holiday!

Hoarder: An extra 10 points for each completed collection the family has ON the lot at the end of the challenge.

Doing it the Hard Way: Give yourself 10 points if you did not use any aspiration rewards during the challenge.

DIY: No handyman may be called at any time during the challenge; all broken appliances, plumbing, and electronics must be fixed by someone in the household. No maid or butler may be hired. Nannies are not allowed, but daycare is – you have to work, after all. 5 points

Love the One You’re With: 5 points if all spouses are found within the town and not created for the heir(ess) in CAS.

All right let’s get started into this challenge.

Meet Kiana Tripp. She will be our founder and has the following traits: Loves Outdoors, Creative, Self-Assured, and Collector.

Our Founder

We will see you during the first chapter of Gen 1 which is known as the Garden of Eden generation.
