DeLacy Wishacy: Chapter 10

Chapter 9 | Rules | Chapter 11

So the last update I know was a little short, so I will try and explain a little more what happened when I didn’t take pictures for a bit. Not sure how I missed taking so many pictures, but here we are.

As the weekend is here all the DeLacy’s were able to sleep in as much as they wanted, and Lilly wanted to read a book. Since she had a challenge to read a high school book, that’s what she did.

Charlie had thrown a wish to learn how to drive, but so far we have not attempted this. I did, however, get a notice that Sheyna got a free vacation. I didn’t know what that meant until she and Goodwin just left and became unselectable for a bit.

Of course, Charlie instantly threw a wish to throw a “teen party.” Having never done this I was like sure thing. So he set it up to be late that evening and then he went and pulled the laundry out of the dryer. Bless that kid. So the appointed time came for the party and we invited Charlie’s romantic interest, Lilly’s romantic interest, Nick and another fellow I don’t remember the name of now.

Charlie danced with his romantic interest, and so did Lilly, though I missed a picture of this. Then both Charlie and Lilly wanted to talk to the other guests, and so it was. That was when we discovered this was happening inside.

That’s Charlie and Lilly’s romantics interests slow dancing together. Nothing more seemed to have come from this and the kids had an ok party. Lilly wanted to do laundry and so she started another load, which got nearly all the laundry on the lot done. YAY. I then received noticed Sheyna and Goodwin would be home soon.

The teens made sure that Rebecca had all she needed, you can see the floor is delightfully clothes free in this room. Charlie was a good older brother and played with Rebecca and got her food.

When Sheyna and Goodwin came home, however, Goodwin went over and scolded Lilly. She was grounded. The reason? Trashing the house!!!! Now this is hilarious. The house was a disaster before they left, the kids actually did laundry so the house was cleaner than when they left but ok. Charlie went to bed and felt like he almost gloated the fact Lilly is the one to get grounded even though she did nothing wrong.

The next morning, however, Charlie got grounded too, also for trashing the house so maybe Lilly rated him out about the party. Not realizing this meant he couldn’t leave the house I tried to have Charlie ask to learn to drive. Ooops, can’t do that while grounded, so he begged for forgiveness and got his dad to take him out. He’s almost through learning.

I feel like the laundry may have been stuck before. Suddenly everyone is wishing to do laundry all the time. Here is Lilly starting some laundry, Sheyna rolled a wish shortly after this. I did, just to verify it wasn’t glitched before, did direct someone to do laundry to make sure it worked (even without a wish) and I don’t know if that put it back into gear or not, but I’m glad for whatever it is.

I can say that officially all clothes are off the floor (minus maybe one or two from changing for bed) and the hampers are basically empty now. I’m so happy to not just have piles of clothes living everywhere.

The full moon came again and Goodwin and Charlie would not come home on their own from learning to drive. They stood by the lake, Goodwin freaking out, to the point where I thought it possible a kid could drive into the lake.

Nope, they were just starving, but refused to go home. Charlie instead sat down to brood. Since he hates the outdoors he was also miserable with a desire to go inside, and yet still they sat there. I finally forced them to come home so they didn’t starve out there, or freeze to death. The rest of the family was happily getting ready for Monday.

With Monday comes school and Charlie headed out to the bus, Lilly was making some waffles and without thinking about it I tried to send her to school. Sheyna then told her she was mad about it and grounded her from the computer. No big loss to Lilly, it’s broken and has been for a while.

I felt bad because Lilly wasn’t going to go to school on her own, I was the reason for it, so instead she met wishes in cleaning dishes, taking out the recycling, etc. It must have worked because she was able to go to work later that evening.

Sheyna, having Monday off, spent the time finishing up Rebecca’s potty training as well as teaching her to finish talking. Rebecca is all trained up and ready to grow up in the next few days with all her skills.

Lilly really is a very good big sister to Rebecca and always throws wishes to chat with her and snuggle her. I’m excited to see how Rebecca grows up. Sheyna now wishes for Rebecca to grow up well.

When Charlie got out of school that day she wished to go over to another classmates house and I said, OF COURSE!!! So he went off and when I checked on him later he was building an igloo. We then received notice that a field trip would be happening the next day.

When the kids woke up, Charlie missed the bus, or rather refused to head to the bus, but Lilly was on early. She went to school and I tried to send Charlie for quite a while before realizing Lilly was outside school building her own igloo. Turns out it was a snow day. Of course, then they both got notice that they had skipped school on field trip day.

Silly game!

Sheyna had a couple of additional work projects today, so she went out and diligently did her job. I still don’t feel like I understand what makes a look “fit” what they are looking for or not. I’m sure there is something that goes into that.

Rebecca is close to growing up now, and the family is getting ready for her to be a child, and that should leave plenty of time for Goodwin and Sheyna to focus on their careers. Goodwin is getting close to another promotion, which should put him at level 8. They are still a couple who are very very much in love.

DeLacy Wishacy: Chapter 9

Chapter 8 | Rules | Chapter 10

So at the end of the last update, I made a note that Lilly had thrown prom wishes for Nick. When I loaded the game back up they were gone, so I guess it was a fleeting thing.

Instead of getting into the information about Prom, let’s first take a look at home the family is fairing overall and what they are all up to. First, Sheyna threw wishes to potty train, Rebecca.

She also threw wishes to play with her and teach her to talk. None of these things were finished yet, but that’s ok, Rebecca is still young, and her parents have proven to be good parents to all their kids.

Lilly decided to cook and wanted to grill some hotdogs, I believe. Things did not go exactly the way she hoped it would. Good thing her dad is a firefighter.

After the near-disaster of dinner being burned and nearly the house too, Lilly took a safer path for dinner and made up something that didn’t require the grill.

We had received the notice about Charlie growing up and after everyone had started to head for bed for the night Charlie decided he was tired of waiting for a cake that wasn’t likely to ever come.

Charlie hadn’t gotten an A in school, only made it up to a B so I didn’t get to choose the next trait, and since we are rolling anyway this doesn’t seem like quite the loss it might, but he rolled Brooding. Yes, he is a brooding vampire who hates the outdoors.

Goodwin had been rolling wishes to do things with Sheyna and to hold, snuggle, and play with Rebecca. Rebecca seems to be the “favorite” of the house as Lilly and Charlie also roll wishes for her, but so far only Sheyna has wished to teach her skills. So it was time for her to learn to walk and they completed this in the middle of piles upon piles of dirty clothes since no one wants to do laundry.

Charlie: Hey dad, dad, look at my fangs. *Argh*

Charlie: What? Look at my fangs, so pointy!

Goodwin: Charlie, Charlie….if you want to intimidate someone you have to actually release your fangs.

Oh boy, vampire training.

Goodwin: See son, it’s got to be like this…

Charlie: Oh….yeah, look at those. Wait, how do you…

Goodwin: Ok, what you have to do is…

Well, that’s enough vampire lessons for me today, let’s go check on Rebecca.

Rebecca also has an IF named Boinky. We will have to change that at some point if we don’t want to get confused with two Boinky’s around.

Boinky #2: I am on a ledge, sneak sneak sneak, see Rebecca

Rebecca: *stares off into the distance*

Sheyna is very excited to get back to work on Friday. She is only a handful of days away from being an elder and is still only at level 4 in her career and LTW. Having 3 kids really has kept her from progressing as fast as she would like.

That night is prom and Charlie is home to take the limo to school. Lilly was at work so she went from work to the school instead of coming home first and riding in the limo. Neither kid had a date.

However, let’s check out how prom went fro these two. First, let’s take a look at Charlie’s prom:

Well looks like Charlie not only found himself a girlfriend, he made prom king, got into a couple of fights and then started getting a little paranoid at the end. How did Lilly’s prom end up?

Lilly’s prom went back and forth. She started out with a pretty picture, then got herself all paranoid about aliens and llamas, but then she got to be prom king, got a boyfriend that wasn’t Nick, but then apparently asked her crush to dance (was it Nick or Kristian?) and got turned down. Still, both kids came home seemingly happy about prom.

I didn’t get a picture of it, but Charlie had thrown a wish to do laundry. BLESS THAT BOY!!! So he threw some clothes into the washer. Well low and behold, would you know it, but Sheyna went and switched it to the dryer all by herself.

Then right before Goodwin had to leave for work again he threw a wish to kiss Sheyna. These two, I swear, are just the cutest. I really do love them as a couple, too cute for words.

This feels like a great place to end this update, although it is a little bit shorter than some of the others. We are heading into the weekend for the family and I have been very bad about taking pictures as of late.

I will explain though, that I have recently gotten and installed the world adventures expansion for the game, so now we are starting to see wishes to go on a vacation, I also am working hard to see if I can get Sheyna enough points to buy herself a youth potion since Goodwin has so far to go being a vampire, and Sheyna is almost an elder and still only at level 4 in her job. She did get through 2 makeovers and can start to focus on work now, so here’s hoping.

Howlnet Asylum: The Ending

Previous Update

Welcome to the final update for the Howlnet Asylum. Everything was make or break for this update. I have never completed a TS3 LTW, so let’s find out if I was able to do it here. When we last were with the inmates here everyone was doing well, but Veronica (our witch) was starting to “bake” everyone else and Vaynia got turned into a block of ice. We also had our first fire, and many many many ghosts.

Since I’m not an avid Sims 3 player it took me a while to figure out what was going on here, but Luna appeared to be trying to catch a blue “bug.” I wasn’t sure if this was a werewolf thing or not, but suddenly Bert rematerialized. He was the blue “bug” that Luna was chasing, they were playing.

I think that is just adorable! Moving on though, Bert is becoming quite the dancer and this time we spy him jamming out to Vernon’s musical stylings with Redd.

The inmates here have been cooking so much we’ve basically been out of ingredients for a while, so when Darwin ran off to work, naked I might add, one morning we had him stop by the store before heading home to pick up groceries.

Back at home that night the ghosts are out in full force again. If I don’t get Darwin through this soon I’m not sure how much longer the residents can deal with the ghosts.

It is the weekend, so Darwin gets up early and invites the next chess partner over. I believe it takes him 2 tries to beat her, but we are working on level 8 at this point, but have barely started.

Right after that, Darwin is feeling good, and we are coming up on week 6 of this challenge, which is just FAR TO LONG, so he invites the next players over. He comes by with no problems and another victor is in hand.

We can see Luna is trying to make friends with the last chess player. With another victory under his belt Darwin takes a nap, or maybe sleeps for the night, I can’t remember exactly. Whenever he is up again, he invites the next player over.

We decide if we can get about 3 in each day we can wrap this up before too much longer, so Darwin calls out of work for 5 days, hoping that will give us enough time. The next player is called over, and this one takes us twice to beat as well.

We ask the next chess player over but she can’t make it right away so we go ahead and let Darwin take a nap, go to the bathroom, freshed up and eat before calling again. This time when he calls there is no issue and she arrives late in the evening.

Darwin has no trouble beating her the first time, so we are done to only a few more sims needed. Of course we also need to max the logic skill, but that is going to take a while longer. Suddenly though, we see Redd fixating on one of our guests.

Bert seems to be dazed as well, but I don’t believe he was. Maybe he’s in shock it wasn’t him. Luckily nothing more happens and the guests leave late in the evening that night with no hard done to them.

The next day we invite over another player. This time we get a woman in a long fancy dress. I believe it takes us twice to beat her as well, but that’s ok, the more time Darwin spends playing chess the faster his skill will go up.

The next player is invited over after a small break and Darwin gets to work beating him without an issue. We are getting closer to half-way through level 8. This is going to take awhile. In the background above you can see Bert convinced Luna to dance with him this time.

One more sim is invited over, and this is a sim we have played before, I’m almost positive. She is not happy when Darwin beats her at this game, although I believe we got the notice she had reached level 2 during this game. The guests are mingling with our other residents as well.

After another short break we get ready to call on the next sim and find out, the next one is in our household. Who might the next ranked chess player be? Why none other than Luna. This makes sense as Darwin has played chess with her fairly frequently.

He beats her without an issue and we suddenly get notified, that was our last match. Darwin is a Grand Master now, and still only 1/2 way through level 8 of chess. Over the course of this challenge Darwin has brought in multiple bonuses and the family has over $12,000, so in an act of sheer desperation on my part, Darwin quits his job to focus solely on playing chess.

I’m not sure if it makes it faster or not, but Darwin tries to play with the other residents as often as he can. First up is Bert, and while Darwin has no friends about the housemates, from their interactions, at least a couple are friends with Bert.

We can see in the background above Luna started another painting, which got about as far as the last one did before she gave up and wandered off. No paintings were ever even close to being finished in this challenge.

Next up we have Veronica play with Darwin. She has had more than enough magic practice, I have no idea what all she can even do, but anything to keep her from getting more powerful and doing worse things to the residents.

Next Darwin sits down with Luna again to play with her. In between all of these guys Darwin is having to repair the sink and the TV, clean out the bad food from the fridge (since the residents keep making food when there is some already) and just take care of himself in general.

We are getting closer and closer, and I believe we have reached level 9 at this point, (and are almost through level 9) so we are close. Vaynia is our next resident to sit with Darwin. He is also doing a lot on his own, but it keeps his social up to play with others.

Bert is back again to help and there were others that helped as well, I just didn’t keep taking pictures of Darwin playing chess over and over and over again. Veronica was back to practicing magic as well.

After Bert walked off I kept Darwin sitting. He was getting tired, I was worried he was going to get too tired to continue, but I kept watching the progress and suddenly, though I missed the picture, the 30,000 popped up above his head and notification that he reached his LTW came up. Darwin did it!!! He can be free of this place!

That’s it! That’s the end!! Semi-anit-climatic I know. This house was fairly boring, but I’m so excited I finished it! This was my first asylum and it was interesting to say the least, and since I had no idea what to do with the chess LTW for the first few weeks I’m barely mad about the time it took.

Amazingly, we lost no sims during the entire thing, and everyone is decently happy and healthy. So, let’s review our points for this challenge:

+1 Point per skill point any of the 8 sims have (only living sims)
Darwin: 19 (10 Logic, 6 Handiness, 3 Cooking)
Luna: 11 (1 Athletic, 4 Cooking, 5 Logic, 1 Painting)
Vaynia: 11 (1 Athletic, 4 Guitar, 6 Logic)
Redd: 8 (2 Athletic, 3 Guitar, 3 Logic)
Vernon: 21 (5 Athletic, 3 Cooking, 9 Guitar, 3 Logic, 1 Social Networking)
Bert: 11 (5 Cooking, 2 Guitar, 4 Logic)
Veronica: 18 (2 Athletic, 4 Cooking, 9 Guitar, 3 Logic)
Ferby: 12 (4 Cooking, 4 Guitar, 4 Logic)
Total Skill Points: 111 Points

+1 Point per friend any living sim has (not including household)
Darwin: 2 Friends (non-household)
Everyone else has at least 2 household friend, but no non-household friends. This feels like a bit of a sad thing to not get points for that as Vernon and Veronica are friends with everyone but Darwin.
Total Friend Points: 2

+1 per 1000 Lifetime Aspiration points your sim has
Darwin: 47,446
I’m guessing you round down, and that it’s only for the controllable sim, so that’s where I’m going to get the points
Total Lifetime Aspiration Points Points: 47

-1 per day you are in the asylum
We we in the asylum for basically 6 weeks and 2 days (just slightly under). So that is 44 days.
Total Days Points: -44

-20 Points for each resident who died (NONE)
-30 Point for each visitor that died (NONE)
-1 Point for each Repoman visit (NONE)

TOTAL POINTS: 116 Points

Howlnet Asylum: Through Week 4

Previous Update | Next Update

After the glitch that left Veronica outside to get snacked on my zombies, and then caused us to also reset the lot I was nervous about the state of our asylum and if it would last until the end. Still, I pressed on, keeping a close eye on everything.

So when we came back to asylum after the reset and everyone had wandered back inside the Bert went and started cleaning the fish tank. These guys are super good at taking care of pets in a tank.

I had never played with werewolves before so I had no idea what Vaynia was doing with Luna right away, and I couldn’t look at the action to determine what it was, so I watched for a bit and discovered, they were playing fetch.

The vampires are getting restless and it’s only a matter of time before something beyond this happens I’m sure. I am starting to continuously get messages about someone not knowing what to do because they were dazed by either Vaynia or Redd’s gaze.

This is a fairly typical scene in the house. Everyone doing a little something different, but all behaving themselves and or sleeping.

Bert broke the sink while cleaning up dishes and his reaction was just priceless. I love seeing these faces, it’s just way too funny to me. He almost seems to be sliding down the counter in dismay while being so upset.

Of course, it was Darwin to the rescue to fix the sink, which stuck at the “broken” animation for a short time and then righted itself luckily. Bert helped in the way he knew how, mopping puddles.

And of course, true to form, while there is a perfectly good bowl of mac and cheese sitting right on the counter, after Luna made it, Vernon doesn’t find that sufficient and starts another meal. (The sink was actually fixed here)

There werewolves started fighting again, they seriously provide the most entertainment in this whole house, and I happened to notice they have “skill bars” over their head, which makes me think this isn’t due to them having a bad relationship, but perhaps a werewolf skill of some kind?

Another day at the chess table for Darwin, another sim on the guitar working on their music. Vaynia picked up the guitar and while no one booed her, they didn’t seem overly impressed either.

The ghosts started putting in many more appearances as well, at night. Vaynia and Luna were left without a bed I believe this night, and the ghosts came in and started helping themselves. Neither Luna or Vaynia seemed interested in having them around.

The next day I noticed Vaynia stating by the TV and happened to notice, she was working out. So apparently they are beginning to use the TV for more than the kids channel, which is why it always seemed to be turned to before.

In one of the bedrooms I find Redd and Vernon having a pillow fight. Ahh, the great battle between werewolf and vampire continues, in fluffy form.

Then, it happens. Luna had started making some food, and I’m not 100% sure what occurred, but I believe a ghost may have distracted her and a fire broke out. Our very first fire in almost 3 weeks at the asylum has finally broken out. I did not interfere, but Fergie was on it and had it out before it even blackened the stove.

The snow was starting to disappear as we headed into spring and out near where the snowman was I happened to see, the asylum had gotten a gnome visitor.

Vaynia decided to terrorize Vernon, “dashing” around him evilly, and he was not a fan. Vaynia was actually starting to get a lot more negative’s on her interactions I was noticing now.

Insane sims really just randomly change clothes all the time, into whatever they want, and it’s always humorous to see what they wear at different times. Redd decides to work out in his bathing suit at the TV, and Veronica doesn’t seem interested, even though she is also in her bathing suit.

We had a MASSIVE haunting that night. I believe at least half of the graves spawned ghosts this night and the kitchen/dining room area was completely overrun. Most of the sims had run into the different bedrooms to get away from the ghosts.

Vernon took a try at the workout station on this day, and Bert accused Vaynia of being evil. She looks so taken aback and like she’s trying to say, “who, meeee???” Yes, Vaynia, you, and you totally are!

Now a storm rolled in this time and so when I happened to see Fergie looking singed I figured he must have gotten struck by lightning. I didn’t see it happen, but it’s hard to watch all of them all the time. However, then I saw him free Veronica and I decided I needed to keep an closer eye on them.

I finally deciphered what Darwin needed to do to start on his LTW of being a chess master and was able to get the first ranked player over, and beat him easily. Funny enough either the next ranked player, or the 3rd on was Vaynia. She really had caught the chess bug. So he was able to get 3 games out of the way fairly quickly

Both players stayed around after the came and appeared to have a good time talking with some of the other people who lived here. Overall everyone was on their best behavior.

Over the next couple of days, nothing terribly interesting happened. The sims went about their daily lives, talking with each other, skilling, watching TV, making food and sleeping. Ghosts came out and haunted and Vaynia apparently liked one of them.

Then I caught it, I found out what likely actually happened to Fergie to make him want to freeze Veronica. I saw her working on her magic, as she tends to do, and I saw Vaynia seemingly watching it with interest and a bit of fear and then she burned.

I was worried what would happen, but Vaynia was fine, just charred. I knew having Veronica getting better at magic would not be a good thing for the rest of the sims. At least she isn’t evil.

I had decided, because everyone started complaining the easel wasn’t open, to remove the painting that Luna, I believe, had started weeks ago and Bert hoped right on the chance to start painting. He then stopped and left an unfinished work, again.

I caught Vaynia stunning Vernon, the poor soul, but luckily she didn’t do anything beyond that. I’m worried these vampires might go on a rampage soon.

Darwin managed to get, after some work, the next two chess players over and he has now played 5 or 6 of the 15 players needed in order to get to chess master. He did have to play the guy twice as he lost the first time, but he’s nearly at level 8 in logic, which should help him continue.

The TV has broken a couple of times and I’ve been nervous about having Darwin fix it, but the TV is so popular, so he’s been told to do it each time, and both times he has repaired it without any problems, luckily.

I’m not entirely sure what happened exactly in this scenario, but I happened to notice both Luna and Vaynia were charred, this was very likely the work of Veronica and her new magic abilities.

However, nearly right after this encounter, Luna walks away and Vaynia is suddenly an ice sculpture. Now, perhaps I am wrong on this other charred sim is actually Veronica and she cast the spell, but I’m not sure what transpired.

I was a little nervous for Vaynia, but she thawed out and was fine. She and Luna even mopped up her puddles later. Darwin has managed to get yet another promotion at the job and he is working his way through the ranked chess players. I’m hoping he can complete the goal in the next 2 weeks, but we will just see what happens.

Howlnet Asylum: Week 2 and possibly beyond.

Previous Update | Next Update

Ah, welcome back to the asylum….errr, to Howlnet Mental Hospital. Last week, Darwin, whom all our hopes are set managed to get up to logic level 5 but had not yet begun his trek through the ranked players. The rest of the inmates took care of themselves with mostly good results.

We start this update with Darwin. The other inmates have taken to occasionally breaking the bathtub, but Darwin is very good to get in there quickly to fix it.

Vernon has taken to the guitar, now that he has had a turn on it and has started spending quite a bit of time practicing and playing for the other inmates.

All of the uncontrollables show off their ability to take care of themselves frequently. It is rare that I need to have Darwin clean up messes. He needs to fix things, but cleaning is usually take care of by the others.

Darwin is constantly interrupted in his sleep by ghosts. It doesn’t matter what room I put him in, it seems the ghosts enjoy waking him up. In the other room, with only 2 beds it feels like it happens less frequently as the other bed is usually taken.

During the latest rash of ghost sightings, Ferbie got to know the aquanitence of one of the genies that died in the set up rounds of this asylum.

Luna makes me nervous by deciding to try and cook. I believe we still had food in the fridge, but no she wanted to cook all by herself. Luckily she, like all of the inmates so far, seems to be fairly good at keeping an eye on it. We’ve had burnt food but nothing else.

Ferbie appears to enjoy cleaning. He doesn’t have a neat trait, or anything that seems to point to liking to clean other than being a genie, perhaps, but he still spends time scrubbing everything in the kitchen.

Our resident witch, Veronica, continues to practice her magic and I have a feeling she’s getting pretty good at it. We better hurry up and figure out how to start getting to chess master before she is able to truly do damage around the house.

Vaynia, on the other hand, has caught the chess bug after playing with Darwin one night and sits at the chess table fairly frequently now.

After work one day, Darwin is allowed to visit the two places he is allowed to go outside of the asylum. He visits the bookshop and buys a few books, then visits the grocery store and buys some groceries.

Back at home, the music being played by our guitarists must be getting better. Bert and Ferbie take a dance break in the middle of their doing nothing, and I believe it was Veronica playing.

With new groceries in the house Bert decides to cook some waffles. He is not a good cook, as far as I know, but he manages to also not set the house on fire.

Darwin chooses, on the other hand, to spend the evening out in the snow building a snowman. He has a good time with building it alone, in the quiet of the night.

The social butterfly fairy, Burt, really must enjoy dancing, because after eating he ropes Vaynia into dancing with him to Veronica’s playing. It seems like many of the inmates are forming relationships.

The next time Vernon picks up the guitar I catch Veronica walking by making this face…

It seems she is none too happy about someone else playing “her” guitar.

Vaynia and Ferbie, our two evil sims started taking turns “scaring” Redd. They seriously did the sneak and scare action back and forth multiple times and laughed and laughed.

Darwin managed to catch himself a promotion in his law enforcement career. It would seem to me, if he’s stable enough to be doing law enforcement, and doing well enough to get promotions maybe he should be allowed out more, but what do I know.

The fish tank has actually fish in it now, and everyone is actually really good at feeding them and cleaning the tank. It’s been a good thing to have, because they all love to watch the fish and the bubbles as well.

The bathtub had broken again, so Darwin diligently went to clean it. He had built up enough handiness he decided to make it self-cleaning. He would still have to repair it if it broke but one less cleaning task would be nice.

That night was a zombie moon, and the werewolves had also turned. Our poor skeptic, Darwin, really gets freaked out everytime they turn. He also seems to be nervous eating across from one.

Veronica has decided to get herself stronger, I suppose maybe she needs to be to be a better conduit for her magics, but regardless of why, she tries out the workout bar. She lands on her behind frequently, but tries away.

Veronica became unroutable, apparently, as Naars gave me a message and the next thing I know Veronica was outside the gate. I have the main gate locked for anyone but residents, unless we are inviting someone over, then we unlock it for a bit and lock it back up afterwards, but zombie were sprouting around Veronica.

There ended up being three of them around her and they continued to try and “zombie attack” her and every time she laughed it off, or got scared but nothing else happened. At least it was that way for the first 5 or 6 times. I kept praying she would go inside, but suddenly this happened…

She got bit, and that was very sad to me because I didn’t want Veronica to die, I liked Veronica, but alas, she wouldn’t come inside. The very nice morning I noticed that Darwin couldn’t pay the bills, the mailbox was jacked up. So I read up about it and apparently this can happen, and I was going to likely need to reset the lot, which I did. Mailbox started working, but Veronica never had any repercussion about getting bit. Don’t know if this is normal after a reset, but I guess time will tell.

This feels like a good place to end this update, I’m not entirely sure where this is in terms of weeks as I have played through 4 1/2 weeks almost already, and I will bring more updates, but this will do for now.

A Halloween Scavenger Hunt: Second Set

Initial Days

When I last made an update for the scavenger hunt I ended up with 140 points in the first few days with Antonia Vincent and had found multiple things on the scavenger hunt list. Now, I only need to reach 200 points in order to get my full credit for it, but I might continue this a little longer and see if I can find more of items, but for now, let’s get back to Antonia.

After a new day at work Antonia went to the salon to get herself a bit of a makeover. She has gone goth. This was and I Dare You item in the list and so here we are with our new goth inspired Antonia. +20 Points

You can sort of see in the back there that we are back at the bar we visited in those early days and that means we have taken a picture with the skull picture. + 10 Points

Then, down a dark hallway we spy a Bone Hilda house. That means we might be able to wake her up and get a picture with her. Antonia heads down the hall, knocks, and sure enough, out comes Bone Hilda. +5 Points

We start looking around the bar a little bit more and off in a room to the side we find our next scavenger hunt image. Here is, what I would consider, a creepy painting. +10 Points

As Antonia was getting ready to leave the bar she spies a couple of werewolves just outside. They were actually turned so to make up for the fact in the initial days Antonia took a picture with a werewolf who wasn’t turned, she takes a picture here. She also was able to capture fangs. +10 Points

On her way home from work the next day, which is the first day of fall, she visited the store and bought herself a fun fall treat. When she got home we took a good knife to it. Antonia carved herself out an evil Jack-o-Lantern. +10 Points

This picture got a little dark, but Antonia went out collecting and I happened to notice you can see the tree’s shadow. +10 Points

Back at home it’s the night of the zombies again and as one comes out of the ground beside Antonia we snap a picture. So now we have our official picture of a zombie. +5 Points

Antonia finally has a day off and so she heads down to the fall festival. The trees are starting to turn some beautiful colors and so Antonia takes a picture with the autumn leaves. +5 Points

In the patch right beside Antonia in the picture above there happens to be a pumpkin headed scarecrow. While, as scarecrow is on our list, so I send Antonia over to take a picture with it. +10 Points

I then look down and realize that Antonia is standing next to a bunch of pumpkins. I have already kind of gotten pictures of a pumpkin when she was carving it, but here we get an official pumpkin picture. +5 Points

After taking a picture in the photo booth, because, why not. I may continue on with Antonia at some point so we will gather them. Anyhow, then it was time to head into the Haunted House. +10 Points

With that, I will have officially finished finding what was needed for the scavenger hunt. As I mentioned, however, I may continue on and see if I can continue to find the other items on the list, including things like Ambrosia, or a death fish. This was a ton of fun however, and I hope you enjoyed traveling around with Antonia.

Howlnet Asylum: Week 1

Previous Update | Next Update

Welcome back to Howlnet. Our first week watching our insane sims has commenced and been completed and here are the things that happened during this first week.

Actually, first, I realized I never really showed you the asylum last time you joined us. You met the inhabitants, didn’t see where they leave. So here is a quick look inside. Right inside the front door and to the left you have one of the bedrooms, with 3 of the beds in it, a mirror, and then the “dining room” and the kitchen that also has a fishtank.

In the center area of the house you have the chess table, guitar, living room area with a TV, bookcase, easel, and workout bar.

Finally to the right of the front door there is another bedroom with 2 beds in it and one more mirror (since they don’t count as a “skill” object we went ahead and put one in each room. Then there is the single bathroom that has the tub/shower combo, and the toilet (which is “blocked” off from the tub to allow for someone to use the toilet and also bathe at the same time.

As you can see we have our 5 bed spots (5 single beds), 6 seating (2 chairs at the table, 2 at the chess board, and 2 in front of the TV), and 1 napable piece of furniture (the rocking chair). We have the one toilet and the one shower/tub combo, the one sink is in the kitchen. Our 5 skill building items are the chess board, easel, work out bar, guitar, and….I guess we only gave ourselves 4. We do have a TV, but no other electronic entertainment, we have the cheap stove and the one fridge.

All right, so let’s start out week one. Because we took time to create the ghosts that are in the backyard we actually don’t move everyone in until the evening of Sunday. As everyone gets inside Bert talks to himself, I send Darwin to start a meal, and the rest just wander around getting the layout of the place.

Our resident bookworm, Redd, makes a bee line for the bookcase and settles himself in for some reading. He doesn’t actually stay long, but he does start the process.

One of our virtuoso’s, Veronica settles in to start playing the guitar. She isn’t very good as she has no skill levels, but she must put a spell out because everyone starts coming to watch her, and I don’t believe anyone boos.

Suddenly there is a rush to get food. Everyone realized they were hungry and Darwin had made food not too long ago, so dinner was had by all.

Veronica and Bert show off how they are going to be helpful during the challenge. Veronica decides to cook, but she makes another salad, so no actual cooking is involved, and Bert works on cleaning up all the dishes in the house.

The ghosts start coming out after dark, and while some of the sims don’t seem to care, others are not happy about seeing them.

Luna decides to take a turn on the guitar and plays for a bit. People gather around, but so must not be as enthralling as Veronica is at it.

Darwin ropes Vernon into playing some chess with him. He needs skills, and also needs to still find the job in Law Enforcement. It takes a couple of days before he does, and they cannot pay the bills until he comes home with the first paycheck.

After playing the chess match with Darwin, Vernon decides he doesn’t want the left over salad that is in the fridge. No no no, he wants mac and cheese. Now hot dogs are his favorite meal, but apparently he had an hankering. He, however, makes a successful batch.

The guitar, I can tell, is going to be a very popular skill item with all of these sims. Ferby takes his turn at the guitar, this time in his regular genie outfit. They change in and out of outfits, due to being insane, all the time, so I will do my best to get the names right.

Our two vampires take some time out of doing other things to share a box of plasma juice. Luckily the fridge has plenty of it, although Darwin has already had a moodlet from being “hunted” by a vampire, so we will see.

The ghosts are out frequently, at least groups of them. Luckily we usually only get 3 or 4 of them at a time. I’m sure that is, at least in part, due to the number of sims already living here. We also get a chance to see Luna in werewolf form.

Veronica is going to be trouble if I don’t get through this challenge quickly I think, I can just feel it. She starts practicing her magic multiple times. I’m assuming she is running out of “magic juice” whatever they call her reserves and doing it again as it refills.

The ghosts really start to get the better of some sims this night. Even Darwin passes out from being too freaked out by the werewolves and ghosts. He is a skeptic afterall.

The next day we notice we have had our first toilet clog, so Darwin heads in to fix it before heading to work. Luckily he doesn’t have any problems.

Today Darwin enlists Vaynia to help him out with his chess game. We are trying to get most of the inmates to play with Darwin at least once, maybe he might even make friends.

I was worried it was never going to get used but our avant garde (at least I’m pretty sure this is Luna) started working on a painting, then her absent-mindedness kicked in and she wandered off.

Veronica is one of the most helpful inmates imaginable. I haven’t always taken pictures, but she cooks (and hasn’t yet started a fire), she cleans up dishes, she mops, and here she is cleaning up plasma boxes. If I ever do an ISBI in TS3 I might throw her into town and hope to marry her in.

Poor Burt actually gets picked on a lot. I feel bad for him. The others like to heckle him, and when he wets himself it just adds more fuel to the fire. I don’t know what Bret’s relationships are like, of course, but I can’t imagine he is making too many friends.

Ferby isn’t about to be outdone by the witch Veronica, so he cleans up Burt’s pee puddle. He was looking more concerned about him then gleefully aghast in the picture above.

It’s a quiet evening and after doing his “chores” for the day Ferby sits down to play some chess all by himself. I think these sims are going to end up with a fair amount of skill points by the end.

Here we find Veronica back to practicing her guitar. The virtuoso trait in her is very very strong. Vernon is also a virtuoso and I’m not sure I’ve seen him anywhere near the guitar, maybe once.

After giving a little concert…and she is getting better…Veronica goes and makes another meal…and doesn’t start a fire. I swear, these guys are all way too good at taking care of themselves.

We have more ghostly visitors this night, and Luna is not happy about them. She has also started going out hunting at night a lot more often.

We had a rash of bathroom accidents the next day. Seemed everyone needed to go at once and the toilet was clogged again, so I had Darwin head to fix it and everyone else just ended up wetting themselves. It a good thing I haven’t had to keep track of that. Regardless, I believe one of those sims was Vaynia, but she cleans up her own puddle.

It’s back to practicing chess for Darwin, he is nearly at a level 5 in logic so he asks Redd to sit down with him. The outfit Redd has on is just too much for me, I love it. It’s like he’s a pimp vampire. In the background we can see that Vernon is finally using the guitar.

I was beginning to wonder if the pull up station would ever get used either, and then I look over and see that….Redd went over and started working out after his chess match.

While he is working out I spy that Luna is getting ready to cook. I don’t believe she has cooked once so far, so we keep a close eye on her. She mixes up the mac and cheese then leaves it on the counter. That’s ok, it can’t burn anything down on the counter. I have Darwin head over to start cooking it, but before he gets over there Luna comes back and pops it on the stove. She then walks away. Luckily, some ghosts were haunting and one of them took over to finish the job.

We were so close to some potential excitement in this house, but no such luck. Those darn helpful ghosts. So instead of a fire, we check out Veronica working on her spells again. Her bar looks like it’s getting fuller.

Right at the end of the first week, we get our first excitement. A fight breaks out between our two werewolves, Luna and Vernon, in one of the bedrooms.

With that, we end our first week. Darwin has reached level 5 in logic, and is in the law enforcement career. He hasn’t achieved a promotion yet, but he has only been to work once, so that isn’t surprising. Next week he probably will get one. Maybe next week will be more exciting too.

A Halloween Scavenger Hunt: Initial Days

Second Set

Hi guys, so I will be back to normally scheduled updates here soon, but for the month of October the wonderful community over at are doing some fun Halloween events and one of them is a scavenger hunt through the Sims.

The goal was to make a sim and without cheats or mods find as many things as you can within the game, and take pictures of them (although I only needed to get to 200 points.) The caveat is, those pictures had to also include your sim. Sometimes that’s easy, other times it’s a little harder. So here I start on my scavenger hunt with Antonia.

Meet Antonia Vincent. She is a TS3 sim who is Evil, Frugal, Night Owl, Supernatural Fan, and a Cat Person. She moves into a small house in Moonlight Falls and wishes to become a Master of Mysticism. Now, we aren’t working towards that goal specifically here, but maybe she will be fun to use later for something more.

Lucky for us the house Antonia bought is right down the street from the town cemetery. So we head down to the cemetery to get our first sets of points. So here is Antonia in the cemetery. +5 points

One of the ‘I Dare You’ challenges in this is to mourn 3 strangers. Well, this is a new town for Antonia, she knows no one buried here currently, so we find 3 tombstones with names on them. Antonia mourns the loss of life for Alexa Burt, Marco Dolor, Victor Chesterson. +20 Points

Since we are in the cemetery, even though we’ve already taken pictures of them, sort of, here is specifically a tombstone. +5 points

I let Antonia take a break from searching for things in the cemetery and let her wander through the catacombs for a bit. She gets mauled by a bear, but while she was in there we watched a family show up, and then the little girl went home on a broom. This must be a witch family. So, Antonia goes to introduce herself, and get a picture of a witch. +5 points

Turns out the guy in gray, who is part of this family, is human. The guy in blue, however, is a witch and I will prove it later. There is another member of the family sitting near by when we start talking, and she gets up and magics an apple. So here is an apple. +5 points.

We watch as the family members start to trickle off home, and as soon as the guy in blue heads out to the street we run out too and wait. Sure enough, out pops a broom. +5 Points

After a second or two Mr. witch hops on the broom and I remember to take yet another picture to show a witch riding a broom. I told you I’d prove it. So here he is riding a broom. +10 points

It’s time for Antonia to head home because she is getting tired and hungry. She also wants to find that job as a mystic, which she is able to do and will become a fortune teller. While she heads into the house though we catch a picture with a doorknob. +5 points

When then walk into the bedroom where we have purchased some nice candles. I go ahead and take a picture of them for another +5 points.

That night one of the next ‘I Dare You’s’ in the scavenger hunt is to spend the night in the cemetery. So about 7 PM (give or take) I send her back and wouldn’t you know but magic girl is still there, so we chat for a bit and then start our naps on a bench. We stay there until morning, about 7 AM or so before heading home. +20 points

Antonia gets up the next day and gets herself ready, she is going to work today. Wouldn’t you imagine my surprise (having not played much of TS3) when her work outfit contains a witch’s hat. +10 points for me.

After this day of work she is exhausted and unhappy so she goes home and sleeps for a bit, then it’s off to the festival, where she sees and chat’s up a ghost. Wouldn’t you know it, this is also a Goth ghost (Oliva Goth) but I’ll only count the ghost this time. +5 Points.

Antonia decides to go get her face painted, and while it doesn’t turn out the way she wants, her face is obviously painted with face paint. +5 points.

After this we decide to hunt down where Oliva Goth came from and see if we can get a picture with another member of the Goth family. Samuel Goth had just come home right as we pulled up so we rang the door bell and chatted with him for a while. +10 Points

We then get notice it’s a full moon tonight so out Antonia goes to a park where I can try and get a picture of her with the moon. Not as easy as you might think, but I believe it turned out pretty good. +10 points

She went home before the zombies started popping out of the ground, and I’m annoyed, because I seem to have lost my pictures of the first zombie that came out. Sadly, I will have to wait to get a new zombie picture because this is a picture of a scary face on a fairy zombie. +5 Points

The next day, after work, we decide it’s time to see if we can meet some vampires or werewolves, so we head to the club in town. One of the first people we meet is a vampire, who looked like she might be getting ready to snack on someone, but stopped once we said hi. +5 points

There is also technically a skull in the background of this picture, but I’ll be coming back to the club, and will get a better picture then. Meanwhile, over by the bar we spy a wolf. So we head to take a picture. I know he looks normal, but he is a werewolf….do I need to wait for him to change? +5 Points

Antonia heads home after all of this excitement and point earning after gathering many flowers, gems, bugs, etc. There are still a lot of things to try and find, and I will try to bring some more later. I hope you enjoyed our little scavenger hunt start.

Hope in Dumpsters: 3 Cases

The DITFT Starts | Rules |Next Update

Generation 10

Option Two
Expansion Need: Ambitions

Private Investigator
Become Private Investigator
• Complete 30 cases – Done: 2
• Snoop 10 locations – Done: 0
• Write 5 papers on findings – Done: 0
• Reach level ten of Private Investigator Career – Level 2
• Go through 5 garbage and 5 mailbox – Garbage: 1, Mail: 0
• Don’t marry (if you chose) or have kids until Adult

When we last visited our little dumpster diver she had not only completed a beautiful, if eclectic house she had started her life as a private investigator. She has already completed two cases, although they were easy to solve, and has managed to already find her way back to digging through trash.

When we open up the house and do a quick search for Bobbie, we discover she is still warm and snug in her bed. She is dreaming of her life, and more specifically her job.

After she wakes up we notice that not only is the computer broken but the dishwasher is as well, and there is a puddle of water. Bobbie goes to clean up the puddle of water but complains that the rug is in the way. I would think the rug would soak in some of the water, but maybe the leak is just that bad.

We decide to give repairing the thing a shot, in hopes that it can be done without damage and things were going along well, I thought she was going to get away with it, but then suddenly, nope.

She then complains that the food processor is also in the way. Bobbie, I would think if the food processor is in the way it’s actually the countertop it’s sitting on and not the actual device.

Perhaps the food processor was actually in the way of what comes next.

Bobbie awakes from a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE dream where everything in her house was out to get her, all the salvaged items were blocking her path at every turn and death was her end.

So obviously I couldn’t just let her die, and since she had done 2 whole things, woke up and get electrocuted I decided to re-start the save.

When she lightly crawled out of bed and crept to the door to peer out Bobbie saw the smoke coming from both the dishwasher and the computer. She pulled out her phone and rang a repair man.

Bobbie: *thinking* If I get them repaired properly maybe they will like me more.

She slowly opens the fridge and grabs some breakfast and all seems peaceful. The rug remains in place on the floor, out of the way, the food processor doesn’t attempt to prohibit her food making. All seems right in the world. Just in case though, she decides to go watch TV upstairs.

It’s then she gets her first case for the day. A policeman is worried about a hacker hacking into the library computer. Bobbie vows to get to the bottom of the case.

Bobbie heads off to snope around the suspected hackers home and gets to look not only at their mail, but dig through their trash too. Bobbie approaches her job with the up most care, but also the vigor of someone born for this.

She gets the dirt, and the proof she needs, on the suspect and heads back to inform the police of her findings. He is very happy to have what he needs to stop this.

Feeling energized and ready for another case Bobbie heads to the library to use one of their computers. She vows to buy herself a laptop to carry around once she has the money. Sitting at the library computer she pulls up her website to see if any new clients have requested her assistance, and sure enough a little girl wants her help in discovering who used her toothbrush.

The case may not be one that Bobbie would normally attempt to take, but she is still in the process of making a name for herself, and no little girl should have someone use her toothbrush. Bobbie sets out to meet the young girl and get the scoop.

It seems she doesn’t have a lot to go on, but believes there is someone who might know the information.

Client: She might be persuaded to talk, if you know what I mean

Bobbie knows what she means and heads in to talk to the woman. After some idle chit chat Bobbie gives it the straight forward approach first. The woman claims to know nothing, so Bobbie tries to grease her palm a little, not getting much out of her still.

Deciding it’s all to plausible there is no information to get, Bobbie heads back to the little girl, and discovers it was all a ruse. Something to get Bobbie to hand over her cold hard cash. Well, jokes on her, she didn’t give much money to the woman but she got back her entire fee.

With the afternoon feeling like a bit of a bust Bobbie goes to the festival in town and takes a picture in the photo booth and looks around before heading home for the night.

That night Bobbie once again dreams about her work. She dreams of getting the evidence.

Swimming through anything she has to to….

In order to get the dirt she needs. Even if that means digging through more trash… is what she is good at after all.

Bobbie wakes up the next morning still a little wary of her house, but in better spirits and decides to spend the cool morning working on her logic skill.

While practicing Bobbie receives wonderful news from the agency. They are very happy with her work so far.

When the phone call comes in with a case Bobbie is ready to handle it. This is a case of love, or rather a determination of if it’s love. The client’s name is VJ and he want to propose, but doesn’t want to make a fool of himself. So he asks if we can snoop around.

Bobbie talks with his family, none of whom think very highly of this girl. Either she is not someone VJ should be with, or they are very particular, possibly closed-minded about their boy.

Since it is difficult to learn anything definitive from his family, other than their dislike of the girl, Bobbie takes a different approach. Hacking into the girls computer. Her social media pages, her email, anything that might give a hint of what she things of VJ.

The news was not good. This girl didn’t love VJ. Turns out his family was probably right. She thought nothing of him, talked about him to no one and seeming didn’t care. Bobbie brought the news back, closing out her file in the process.

Calling it a night, Bobbie heads home, another successful case under her belt. She is now a level 3 investigator and hopefully will be getting tossed a few more cases.

Tonight Bobbie dreams of cooking. Finding that next great recipe.

Making that perfect meal, the best dish.

One that leaves no dirty dishes…..nothing to throw into the dishwasher.

DeLacy Wishacy: Chapter 8

Chapter 7 | Rules | Chapter 9

Welcome back to the DeLacy Wishacy, where the last time we joined this family Charlie grew up into a a child wearing…interesting pj’s. Sheyna and Goodwin were trying to baby 3, but to no avail during the last update. So what has the family been up to then? Let’s find out.

The first things that Charlie wishes for upon growing up are ointments or potions, so we have his get to work on the alchemy table. He seems to do better than his father, but ultimately the potion blows up in his face all the same.

Sheyna is relaxing in the rocking chair, one of her favorite places when we notice her clothes have changed. I have not gotten the notice, but it is clear she is pregnant again. Both parents will be thrilled.

Goodwin is doing great at his job, I really should have started with a male sim. Poor Sheyna isn’t anywhere close finishing her lifetime wishes because she has spent so much time pregnant. I have vowed, even if they wish for it, this will be their last baby. Poor woman needs to become the fashion phenom she wants to be.

Regardless, Goodwin’s job keeps him busy and he’s rising through the ranks quickly. One this day he has to “save” a same from the fire. You can actually see the person he needs to save panicking in the background, in no way in danger of the small fire burning inside. Still, Goodwin breaks his way through to convince the guy to run and succeeds once again.

Both Goodwin and Sheyna are marvelous parents about 90% of the time. They almost always autonomously do things with their kids, or for their kids, and the rest of the time they wish for their kids. So both Lilly and Charlie are pretty doted on. Lilly even gets a bedtime story from mom.

Lilly: Charlie, you are still all singed and smell all burnt.

Charlie: Yeah, so? I was hungry

Lilly: But we have school today, do you want to show up all, all….gross?

Charlie: *shurgs* I’m a boy, not sure anyone will care.

Lilly: Well then can you go downstairs so I can eat without having to smell you??

The next day was Saturday and Lilly wanted to invite people over, actually she wanted to become best friends with Nick. They became good friends last update and she is wanting to take it further. So she is allowed to invite him and some other sims over. Her half-sister also shows up today, and the two of them start by working on some homework.

Charlie, one the other hand, had been wishing to learn writing and to take a writing course. Since it’s Saturday he’s allowed to ride his back to the writing course and leaves feeling very happy with his choices for the day.

Back at the house Nick has also come over, and we don’t recognize him at all. Nick has grown into a teenager. That’s ok because Lilly, amazingly enough will be a teenager the next day. She throws wishes to play dominos with Nick. So a domino table is bought and they sit down for a game.

Downstairs Sheyna is having a pillow fight with Charlie. I cannot remember which one of them wished for this, but it was a wish for sure. I believe Charlie wanted it.

Charlie also took a turn at the dominos board with a girl that was invited over with Nick and his dad. He really wanted to have a 4 person game, but the 4th person would never sit down, so we let it go. After some good domino games and a lot of fun, the kids sit at the table and have some juice before it’s time to say goodnight.

The next day is a very exciting day for the whole family. First, early in the morning Sheyna goes into labor. We will soon have our new little DeLacy.

We have a new little girl. Meet Rebecca DeLacy. From her coloring I’m going to say she takes after her daddy and will be a little vampiress.

Lilly was wanting to sleep in a “top bunk” so she took over Charlie’s bed for the night, and Charlie asked his dad for a bedtime story. It took a bit since Goodwin was upgrading the shower, but he was happy to oblige after the fact.

It was then birthday day. First to “grow up” was Boinky, who turned into a “live” toy after being played with by Lilly.

Then it was Lilly’s turn. I had meant to throw her a party and the household just got crazy enough and no one wished to throw one so it didn’t happen. Lilly wants to “attend a party” which was how I was going to get away with it, but regardless, she grew up well all the same.

A bit of a makeover was in order because while I don’t hate that hairstyle on some sims, it did not suit out little Lilly. This is much better.

After everyone was done blowing noise makers and cheering for Lilly’s birthday it was Lilly’s turn to cheer for her friend Boinky to grow up too. Boinky is going to be around a while I think. I do find it funny to watch Lilly doing things with an invisible “person” to everyone else and only when I select her do I see Boinky.

Sheyna finally upgraded the shower she was asked to upgrade and that night, with everyone home and a few small minutes of time on her hand she set out to return the shower. While there she chatted a bit before heading back home.

Lilly, bless her heart, appears to like to be neat. Even though it isn’t a trait she hold she is always wanting to clean. I keep hoping she will want to do laundry but so far, no such luck. Charlie even wished to buy Bonehilda, which was done, but no one has wanted to activate her, and she doesn’t do laundry anyway.

Regardless of all that, I moved the washer and dryer into the basement, hoping it would trigger some wishes, no such luck, but Lilly wished to repair the shower that had been broken all week. They kept moping up the puddles, but no one wished to fix it.

Lilly turns out to be a big help with little Rebecca too, and a quick glance at these two pictures, of mom and big sister dotting on little Rebecca you can really see Sheyna has been a good mom and taught Lilly well.

Charlie, not to be forgotten in all the chaos that seems to surround this family somedays, held a wish to right a novel since his writing class. So he diligently worked on one nearly ever day, almost any chance he could get. Turns out, he’s not half bad at sci-fi writing for a little kid.

Goodwin throws up wishes for his wife with a fair amount of consistency. He loves her deeply, and wishes for a kiss and stargazing together are accepted readily by Sheyna, who, even after her mid-life crisis, still loves her husband.

We will end this update with one additional birthday that happened during this play session. Little baby Rebecca is now a toddler.

I love that this little girl has her mom’s hair, and she is indeed a little vampiress. It will be interesting to see how the family does now with the children getting older. Lilly did manage to get an A in elementary school, and Charlie is at a B currently.

Rebecca rolled the traits of Loves the Outdoors and Couch Potato, which should make her interesting. So now we have one kids who always wants to be outside, Rebecca, and one who never wants to be outside, Charlie. Goodwin has gotten up to a level 8 Fireman, he just keeps succeeding. I hope Sheyna will now have time to focus on her career.

As one final little side note that I think is adorable, I got notice that prom is almost here. Lilly threw up two wishes right around this time. Ask Nick to Prom and Kiss Nick. Seems that little girl friendship really is blossoming. I’m making a note to try and remember to ask him to prom when I am back with this family next. We will see what happens.

Hope in Dumpsters: The DITFT Starts

House Tour | Rules | 3 Cases

So here I start with the new portion of this challenge. Last time we completed the Dumpster Diver portion of this challenge. Now we move onto the DITFT (Difference in the Family Tree) challenge. This is a 15-generation challenge (we will see if we get that far) but the generations can be randomized.

For Bobbie, due to the dumpster diver roots, we decided to start with generation 10 and we will move through as we go. Here is the basic information on the general rules and the rules for this generation.

*Have Fun
*No cheats for money and whatnot. (only exceptions is if something wrong happens with your sims and you have to reset them or what have you)
*For the split gens, you can have both for your heir of that gen (if possible) or you may hand it off to the spouse or even the spare of that gen. Or you don’t have to play it (Some won’t be able to because many of the split gens involve Ambitions expansion)

Generation 10

Option Two
Expansion Need: Ambitions

Private Investigator
• Become Private Investigator
• Complete 30 cases
• Snoop 10 locations
• Write 5 papers on findings
• Reach level ten of Private Investigator Career
• Go through 5 garbage and 5 mailbox
• Don’t marry (if you chose) or have kids until Adult

The reason we picked Private Investigator is because it’s all about digging through peoples stuff, or lives, and that is something Bobbie did a lot of with dumpster diving. Not only did we get a sense for the things many people around town throw away, but also lots about the type of people who hang around the dump.

Bobbie wakes up the first morning, day 22 on this lot in this world and she starts out by making herself some breakfast on the new stove.

I clearly need to get some more lamps in here, like ceiling lamps to help get light in the darker corners of this house. We have lots of small lamps, but it doesn’t always reach everywhere.

Anyway, after some breakfast Bobbie went to her computer (yes, it was pulled from the dumpster) and looked for work. Since we needed to get her into the private investigator career we searched and found what we were looking for.

Then, for fun, we had Bobbie job up to the consignment shop where we spent so much time and had her ‘stakeout’ the place. Not that there was anything for her to discover here, but it’s just such a fun little animation. (Oh, this is actually the dump, but I only did this for a second and then went to the consignment shop.

I did notice it was family day at the dump and consignment shop however. This family was in the consignment shop and a different family with a toddler had just walked over to the dumpsters. You can spy Bobbie just outside the window.

After this fun it was time to do some actual work. So Bobbie went home to her trusty computer and pulled up cases she could take.

The first case she did took her to talk with a gentleman in town and off she went. This job was going to be great for Bobbie. She got to dig into people’s lives, as she had gotten used to doing, but with some more social aspects.

She then had to go do some research at the local hospital on sleep walking. Don’t worry, she’s not at the hospital for any other reason, besides Bobbie can’t even get married for another 7 days.

With this case wrapped up quickly Bobbie took another right away. There is no reason to waste time. We have to get into cases that have us digging through trash, and staking out locations so we can reach our goals.

This one started out with talking to another woman in the neighborhood about her problems. It was then we were told we would need to dig through someone’s trash. That sounds just up Bobbie’s alley.

After learning who’s trash we need to go dig through Bobbie heads off. She had to start out by picking up the guys trash bin, who doesn’t keep their bins upright? Regardless, then Bobbie gets to work with gusto. Look how happy she is to start digging.

After digging through the trash and having a conversation with the man of the house we get the information we need to finish up the case, and so Bobbie heads back to our clients home to tell them the good news.

After sharing the good news Bobbie gets notified she has already received a promotion to the next level of investigator. Happy about her first full day as a trash rummager…errr…private investigator, Bobbie heads to bed. She dreams of her new job.

Where she will leave no stone, or dirty dish un-turned in her search for the truth. Trash doesn’t bother her.

She will research and study, check and double check facts.

Until the truth becomes known, like a beautiful butterfly emerging from a cocoon.

While I leave Bobbie to continue to dream I will say good-bye for now. So far Bobbie had gained her needed career and has gone through 1 person’s trash. She has 6 days before becoming an adult and being able to get married and have kids to carry on this challenge to the next generation.

Hope in Dumpsters: House Tour

In The End| Rules |The DITFT Starts

So last entry I showed you how Bobbie wrapped up the dumpster diver portion of this challenge and that we received 214 points total. This will serve as the house tour and wrap up to that challenge.

At this point Bobbie has had 7 days added to her young adult time to allow her a week of being a young adult to start on the Differences in the Family Tree portion of this challenge. I am starting with Generation 10 and going to pick the private investigator. I will talk more about that challenge as we get started, but here is where we ended up with Bobbie dream house.

It is a 2 story house and has not one but two decks, one if the front and one in the back. We did not garden, nor fish, as we obviously never found the things needed to begin those in the dumpsters.

+1 point for each room of at least 6 squares: Here is where I floundered and could have gotten more points. I ended up with 8 rooms, 4 on the first floor, and 4 more on the upper floor. I could have easily split the bottom level into another couple of rooms. +8 Points

I am going to apologize in advance that these pictures are going to be somewhat dark. I did not do the smart thing and make sure it was light before I took these, and since Bobbie was not home the lights were not on.

We start with a kitchen, that has a new stove, and 4 countertops with a food processor. All 4 counters, the stove, and the fridge were bought from dumpster funds, but the dishwasher, food processor, and decor were found in the dumpster, as well as the trash compactor.

Back toward the front door we have a little “fun” area with the workout machine Bobbie had found, one of the stereos that had to take the place of the nice one stolen from us, and we see the piles of clothes around.

Turning further into that room we see a lovely little area set up for the computer, and doors leading to the bedroom, bathroom, and laundry room for this house.

In this little niche corner we have a wonderful sitting area with matching couches, tables, lamps and a smaller bookcase.

Opposite the kitchen, on the far end of the room we have the more traditional living room with matching couches, a lovely tv, another bookcase, matching end tables, with plenty of light.

Back in the small laundry room, we did purchase the washing machine, but the dryer came out of the dumpster, as well as the lamp.

Now we have come to the lower floor bedroom, which is Bobbie’s room. It has the purchased bed, but everything else came out of the dumpster.

Apparently I didn’t get much of a picture of the bathroom that is right next to this bedroom, but it’s a standard bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink (all purchased sadly.)

Now to travel upstairs where we start with the second bedroom, and this set is all from the dumpster.

The third “bedroom” isn’t really being used as such, instead it holds one of the sets of 4 matching chairs we have. I somehow never got a picture of the dining room downstairs it would appear, but it had a table with a full set of a different 4 matching chairs.

Upstairs we have a dining table with more seating as well, if we end up hosting a big party someday. This table also has a full set of matching chairs, 6 in total.

Here we have another sitting area with a TV, a stereo, and a guitar for future entertainment.

Across from this tv sitting area we have our final large sitting area with lovely matching couches, another TV, another end table and lamp.

I apparently didn’t get a shot of this upstairs bathroom either, but it is there with a shower, toilet, and sink, all purchased as well. And that brings us to the final sitting area inside, this little reading nook.

As a final spot in the house we head back downstairs to the back deck where there is yet another grill, a small table with a couple of chairs to deck seating.

+1 point for $1000 in net worth: We had 51,911 in net worth. +51 points

+1 point for each Basic (bed, fridge, counter, sink, stove, table, chair, toilet, shower/tub, bookcase, entertainment device) pulled from the dump. +35 points (I just counted dining tables and chairs) (13 basics were purchased and didn’t count, 2 showers, 2 sinks, 2 toilets, 4 counters, 1 stove, 1 fridge, 1 bed….everything else came from the dumpster)

+1 point for anything beyond basics: There were so many items that I might have missed one or two wall hangings, but my best count is 118 items that were pulled from the dumpster (not counting the washer that was purchased) +118 points

+1 points for each skill point. Bobbie didn’t study much, but she does have 1 cooking still and 3 handiness. +4 points

So our final score is 216 points.

Not bad for my first try and I think the house is wonderful, although a little eclectic. Now, you will see more of this house as Bobbie will be staying here to start her DITFT portion of the challenge, and will only have the couple hundred dollars she still has her in pockets to start. There are a few things will with the cosigner as well that might give her some extra money before she starts her career as a private investigator. I hope you will join Bobbie and I for this next challenge and thanks for reading along!

3 to Go| Rules |House Tour

Welcome back to the final three days of the Dumpster Diver challenge. We are so close. When we last checked in on Bobbie she had just wrapped up day 18 and we had found a computer day 17 (I believe) which was an awesome find.

It is still winter, and very snowy when Bobbie wakes up around 9 AM on day 19. We let her get a slow start today, I’m just a softy, and get out to the dumpsters around noon. Once Bobbie starts to dive, I start looking around and see a group of people over at the consignment shop.

It’s the woman Bobbie talked about snow with a few days ago. Things seem to be going well with this group. Now, here is something I haven’t seen yet.

I don’t think anyone has been reading this large book. I don’t know if anything interesting would happen, but as he keep reading I move on. Nothing of interest seems to happen.

Back at the dump though there is a small group of people in the small building and one of them seems to be a reporter of some kind. Maybe he’s asking why there is a group of people who always hang out at the dump.

Day 19’s haul is laid out on the lawn. It is actually nighttime, even though it doesn’t look like it in this picture, but with so much snow on the ground the small things get lost easily.

Oh look, a desk. Just what we needed the other day when we found the computer. That’s ok, that means we can sell the other desk and use this one. Today was a large haul of bugs and gems/ores. We also got another one of those blooming wall decorations. The house will be covered in them.

So off so the science center Bobbie goes and then it’s off to the consignment shop, and she ships off the ore to get smelted. While at the consignment shop Bobbie stops and talks to this lady for a bit to get her social mood up some more.

Day 20 comes and goes without anything interesting happening. There were no people really out and about, Bobbie did her dumpster diving, and took care of her needs. With that, here is the haul she pulled for day 20.

It’s another nice day for gems, and a couple of bugs. We also got a new stereo that isn’t as fancy as the one we lost, but is still nice. Another TV, table and other nick-knacks are found as well. The bookcase is a nice find as well.

For the next to last day Bobbie takes her insects and donates them to science, for a small fee of course, and then heads to the consignment shop to cut up her gems. We officially can cut Plumbob gems now. It’s very exciting and while I didn’t catch the picture of the finished product because I accidentally hit the speed up instead of the pause button, I did show us cutting the gem.

The final day of our challenge arrives. What will Bobbie find on day 21? Will we find anything really exciting, like another bed perhaps? Only time will tell. We get Bobbie up a little earlier than she would like today and have her head out. While she does her final diving, which I meant to get a picture of but apparently did not, we spy a cute couple in the “dump shack.”

They start in here, but soon move out to the dump piles and continue like this for a good portion of the morning. Again, why you want to “date” in the dump I don’t know, but hey, to each their own.

We have Bobbie lay out her final day’s haul. It’s not much actually, one of Bobbie’s lesser days in terms of find, but we found yet another grill, another dishwasher and a new living chair, which is fun.

Bobbie gathers up the things to cut, sell, and cosign and heads off to complete her tasks. While she is gone I start the process of finishing the house, rearranging things, and buying the things we never found, but needed as “basics.” I will put a break down of the score and a tour of the house in the next entry.

Items bought since beginning: Toilet, Refrigerator, Bed, Counter (1), Shower, Desk

Final Score: 216

Not the best score, but hey, for my first try I don’t feel it was too bad. I also learned a lot of things I will likely do somewhat differently when I play it again. Thanks for reading along with Bobbie Hope, and I hope you enjoy the tour and wrap up next entry and are ready to start a Differences in the Family Tree with us next.

DeLacy Wishacy: Chapter 7

Chapter 6 | Rules | Chapter 8

Back with the DeLacy family and we will start with Goodwin being at work as a firefighter. He had the desire to get his athletic skill up and since there is exercise equipment at the fire station, she takes advantage and starts working out.

It is not easy to have two sims with “controllable” careers, and while I am looking at Sheyna, who started work today, I click back on Goodwin and it says he’s out preparing to handle a fire. He gets there and does a great job.

While both parents are gone for the day we have a baby sitter taking care of Charlie. Lilly gets home after school and want to make friends with someone, so she plays peek-a-boo with her brother, and gives him a big hug. Awwwww

Sheyna is happy to be back at work, but apparently has been out of the game too long as her first client isn’t thrilled with her work. All she wanted was accessories and these looked nice with her “new dress” but whatever.

At her second attempt he just wants some new facial hair. I think he could use a whole new wardrobe, but hey, who are we to judge. This time it turns out much better and he is added into her portfolio.

On our final make-over in the course of a couple of days, this fairy got a promotion and wants to be made over to look even richer than he already is. Since he was wearing suits and tuxes already I’m not sure how we were supposed to do this, but we gave him some combinations that we thought would say to the world, I only buy the best, and also am “in” on fashion.

He was thrilled with the result, sadly, I missed the pictures of him sizzling his own butt (yes, seriously, he kissed his finger, turned to the side, bent over and did the “I’m hot” action to his butt.) Sheyna took her portfolio picture and got out of there.

Then I go to check on Goodwin and he’s off again. This time he’s headed to the school. Apparently a plant is trying to eat all the students and teachers. After he takes care of the plant he sees both of his daughters outside the school and says hello to them.

Poor Lilly, actually the whole family, got no sleep the night before. Charlie was crying and no one wanted to go to their own bed which left people falling sleep in the rocking chair, and napping. So when Lilly finally got home, after the excitement of the day she passed out.

The radio quickly woke her up and she headed to her actual bed. Everyone got a really good nights sleep that night, which was much needed and in the morning it was Leisure Day. Hurrah!

The first thing Sheyna and Goodwin do is try for that elusive baby. I was sure this time it worked, but alas, no such luck.

Lilly has decided she will be queen of this update and after eating some breakfast autonomously starts to clean up all the dishes. Before too long Goodwin also helps out and cleans up some of his plasma juice boxes.

Goodwin then really wants to upgrade 5 things. Sheyna had this wish not that long ago and upgraded quite a few things, but the stove was bot part of that, and so Goodwin has a good. Before long it’s fireproof.

Sheyna eats in the newly cleaned up dining room, and while there are still a couple of plasma juice boxes on the table, everyone is feeling much better about the upstairs of their house. Now if only someone would wish to do laundry.

Instead of wishing for laundry, Lilly throws a wish to go to the festival. I check and no one else has this wish, so Lilly heads out on her bike. It’s a long ride to the festival grounds, but she makes it without a problem.

Lilly wanted to get a photo taken, so she heads to the tent to do that and then I just leave her to see what she does next. She ops to go and complete in the eating contest.

Lilly: Ugh, hotdogs??!!!! Why did it have to be hotdogs?

What’s wrong with hotdogs?

Lilly: Nothing specifically, I just am picking out hotdogs.

Random woman: Why haven’t they started yet? I really need to use the bathroom soon!

Ooook….this should be interesting.

The competition begins, and the lady who needed to use the bathroom finishes first. Lilly is ahead of both of the guys however.

Lilly: *mmmhese mre moo maa*

I’m sorry Lilly I didn’t make any of that out with your full stuffed full of hot dogs.

Lilly: *takes a quick breath* These aren’t bad.

Right as she was about to finish Lilly walks away and pulls out Boinky.

Lilly: What is it? I was about to get 2nd.

Boinky: Must protect you

Lilly: Protect me from what, an upset stomach?

Oh for pete’s sake Boinky, she was fine, I was watching her.

Boinky: NO, I PROTECT!

*backs away slowly* You talk to him Lilly

After a fun afternoon at the fair Lilly head’s home and wants to make another friend. We know 2 kids in the neighborhood and Lilly invites them over. Both show, yay!

Lilly and Nick talk about their favorite foods and about school. I then get the notification that it’s time for zombies again and sure enough, one pops out of the ground right by the kids.

Doesn’t seem to deter them in the least and before long Nick and Lilly are friends.

You know, Lilly, he could potentially be a good match for you later.

Lilly: Ok, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. He doesn’t even know dad and Charlie are…….*looks around and lowers voice* vampires.

So they content themselves with making silly faces at each other and I decide to head inside and see how everyone else is doing.

Charlie is busy playing at the play table Lilly had wished for as soon as she became a child. She hasn’t played with it once. Sort of like the bake sale table she wished for, but she has no toy oven.

I was notified earlier in the day that is it Charlie’s birthday today, and it was right around this time that I got pulled over to Charlie to watch him grow up.

Oh Charlie, that “outfit” you grew up in. I really hope that isn’t your “everyday” outfit. Still, he’s a pretty handsome young boy, and still has those vampire eyes. Since he did not get potty trained I didn’t get to “pick” his trait, which would have been rolled anyway, so he gets animal lover.

With that, I again feel like this is a good place to end the update. Will Sheyna and Goodwin have anymore kids? How will Charlie do in school? Sheyna already threw a wish for him to get on the honor roll as well. We will have to see next update.

Hope in Dumpsters: 3 to Go

Snowmen Winter| Rules | In The End

We only managed to get through two days last update as there were so many things going on around the dump while Bobbie was there diving. We are done to 5 days to go in this challenge before we shift into a Different in the Family Tree challenge.

As we start day 17 Bobbie gets up and gets her “chores” done for the day. After the burglar took our stereo we are hoping to get lucky enough to find another on, but understand that it’s potentially not happening. While Bobbie dives we take a look at who’s here. Inside we notice a naughty dog.

I’m worried that the desk isn’t going to make it, but the dog eventually leaves the office and the desk is still standing. Then I notice something fall into the snow. That, in itself, doesn’t seem that weird, but something caught my eye about it and I checked it out.

Sure enough, I thought something looked weird about the way he fell. He fell face first into the snow and is making a snow angel with his face in the snow. Not the way I would do it, but hey, what do I know.

Nothing much happens today at the dumpster, and Bobbie just dives away throughout the day. When it starts getting late we have her lay out her finds for day 17.

We had a buy a desk today as Bobbie found a computer! Yes indeed someone threw away a perfectly good computer, and Bobbie will be putting that to use after her 21 days are up. It’s a fairly small haul, Bobbie has not been getting started until after noon almost any day this week.

Bobbie takes her insects to the science team, and heads off to cut her gemstone at the consignment shop and put up all the things she has to consign. I do love the faces they make as they watch the machine.

Up and at them the next morning Bobbie is once again in a world covered in snow and ready for another cold day of diving. First though, because the small social interactions we had a few days ago didn’t fill Bobbie’s social meter, it’s bottomed out again, so she discusses snow with people at the dump.

She gets her social mood back up to a non-red color and it’s time to start diving. She still looks happy with this chosen path in her life, which is good. She’s got more years of this ahead, just in a different fashion.

While Bobbie dives we head across the street and take a look at who is hanging out at the tavern. This girl is enjoying some Foosball at the table, and there are a couple other women around, but nothing too interesting is happening.

The snow seems to be keeping home a lot lately, or at least indoors more often. It is getting cold, and I get notice that Bobbie isn’t feeling so well. It’s only been a few hours of diving, but I decide to take pity on Bobbie and let her lay out her finds.

It’s not a bad haul for a few hours of diving. We got a couple of TV’s, another of the infamous wall hangings, another couple of chairs, another end table (which we are almost overflowing with right now) and some other miscellaneous items, gems, bugs.

Off she heads, first to the science center to drop off the insects found, and then over to the consignment shop. After cutting the gem and putting everything up for consignment we let Bobbie have a little bit more social interaction for the day.

Snow seems to be the topic of discussion around here, it’s probably about how long it will last, or maybe she’s referring to the snowman army that was built across the street the other day. Either way, Bobbie heads home in a much better mood then she had been.

After dinner Bobbie cleans up and has a broken dishwasher. Worriedly I let her work to repair it. She is successful and doesn’t have any problems with it.

Bobbie heads to bed that night with the knowledge that she has two more days before her dumpster diving is mostly over. Since we will be joining the private investigator field once her house is complete she will still be digging in people trash for a living, but maybe slightly less wall hangings will be in her future.

Items bought since beginning: Toilet, Refrigerator, Bed, Counter (1), Shower, Desk
